Job Description
• Obeys all plant/safety rules and complies with all OSHA regulations.• Collects and evaluates scrap material from various departments to sort as applicable and place into baler to be converted into bales.
• Evaluates various types of scrap and strives for optimum salvage.
• Operates mechanical equipment in recycling scrap material.
• Operates wire binder on baler.
• Maintains weight of bales for record keeping.
• Places bale in storage area for disposal.
• Reports repairs needed for train cars and gondolas to supervisor.
• Maintains operation of batteries for all industrial power trucks.
• Maintains power truck batteries to prolong the batteries and chargers life.
• Maintains records pertaining to the history of chargers on a weekly and batteries on a daily basis.
• Operates sweeper in aisle ways to maintain a clean entry path into the building.
• Maintains good housekeeping practices and proper safety procedures.
• Performs other duties assigned.
