Linen Keeper

Responsibilities 
As a Linen Keeper, you will be responsible for the control, safekeeping and issuance of ship’s 
linen and towels inside the linen room. Must record the issuance of towels and linens for the 
Stateroom Attendant, Staff Attendant and ship’s crew. Monitor damage to linens and towels and 
repair the damaged pieces. 
Essential Functions:
• On embarkation day: 
• Record all clean linens and towels received from the laundry. Stock them neatly 
inside the linen room. 
• Issue linens and towels to the Stateroom Attendants and Staff Attendants 
/(Separate linens and towels that need to be rewashed due to stains). 

• Ensure that all items are available to Stateroom Attendants and supply them with 
the correct number of linens and towels based on the number of guests in their 
section. 
• Assist the laundryman when necessary. 
• Place the list of stations issued to Stateroom Attendants in a safe location. 
• Once embarkation preparation is complete, responsible for counting all linens received 
from the Stateroom Attendants & Staff Attendants prior to giving them to the laundry. 
• In turn, new linens and towels will be given for night service. 
• Arrange and record linens and towels when received from the laundry. 
• Separate faded or worn-out linens and towels, as well as those that need to be rewashed. 
• Responsible for maintaining a daily record that must be always kept in the linen room. 
Inventory of all linens and towels is done once a month. 
• Requisitions should be made as needed and coordinated with the Laundry Master and 
Executive Housekeeper. 
• Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the linen room according to USPH 
standards and keeping a daily record of when the linens were cleaned. 
• Responsible for the repair of damaged linens and towels. Damaged linens and towels are 
to be used as rags for cleaning staterooms and other areas and should be easily identified. 
• Double check all linens and towels for damage before issuing to the Stateroom Attendants 
and Staff Attendants. 
• Assist the laundryman in preparing the linens and towels, when necessary. 
• Provide a copy of all records to the Laundry Master and follow the designated timetable 
on the issuance of linens and towels. 
• Provide instructions on how to rewash the stained/damaged linens. 
• On the second day at noon, receive and count linens and towels from the Stateroom 
Attendants and Staff Attendants before giving them to the laundry for washing. 
• Clean the linen room and arrange stocking and recordings. 
• Separate faded/worn out linens and towels with stains for rewashing. 
• Account for the exchange of crew linen on a one-to-one basis. 
• Attend monthly department meetings. 
• Responsible for area’s safety, cleanliness and operation. 
• Responsible for maintaining proper safety measures and performing preventive 
maintenance procedures. 
• Mandatory attendance at all assigned shipboard drills and emergency activities. 
• Create and implement ideas that will generate/increase revenue and/or reduce costs for 
the company. 
• Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and carry out the 
policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position. 
• Perform related duties as required. This position description in no way states or implies

position. Shipboard employees will be required to perform any other job-related duties 
assigned by their supervisor or management. 

Qualifications: 
• High school diploma or equivalent. 
• Some related college education is preferred. 
Experience: 
• One year’s experience in a hotel or related establishment is required; or one year’s 
experience in hotel-related positions on board ships is required. 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Able to organize and maintain various hotel stores and linen stores in a safe and 
appropriate manner for vessels from 2100+ guests and crew, and 600 to 1,500+ 
passenger and crew accommodations. 
• Able to work in a multi-cultural environment; also, must be able to adjust to changes in 
schedules, assignments and deadlines.
