Reporting to Manager of Fleet Control, could you be our next Fleet Controllers?

About the role
Plan, monitor and deliver the V/Line passenger fleet movements to meet daily business requirements. You will play a key role in the coordination of daily train operations to minimize delays, improve service delivery, recording and communicating variations to all V/Line staff and stakeholders in a operational environment.

Key accountabilities include:
•    Allocate and manage vehicle rostering across the V/Line passenger rail fleet.
•    Communicate with frontline staff to capture fleet fault reports and coordinate with our maintenance partners to resolve issues.
•    Develop and implement contingency fleet plans during disruptions. 
•    Point of contact for Workforce Controller / Staff Clerk / Regional Stations / Customer Communications to ensure Drivers / Conductors are in position to perform required alternative duties during disruptions. 
•    Work closely with the wider IOC team to support safe and efficient network operations. 
About you

This position will suit a detail-oriented operator with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You will have the opportunity to thrive in time-sensitive environments and make quick, accurate decisions under pressure. You need to bring excellent communication and reasoning skills to every task.

Roster & Location 
Given the critical, hands-on nature of the work, this is an onsite-only position based at 628 Bourke Street, Melbourne CBD.

Delivery on a 24/7 rotating roster include: 0415 – 0600, 0800, 1100, 1330, 1900. These shifts will run across weekends, public holidays with a shift duration of 9.5 hours.

To be considered for entry into the selection process for this role, applicants must meet the following ‘key selection criteria’, which forms part of our merit-based recruitment process. Applicants are required to include a one-page summary with their application outlining how they meet each of the key selection criteria.

•    Available on a 24/7 rotating roster including, morning, afternoon, nights, weekends and public holidays
•    Available on site for all shifts
•    Demonstrated rostering/ planning and or scheduling experience

This position will be paid in line with the V/Line Rail Operations and Administration Employees Agreement 2023 SNR OFF 1.1 on a 24/7 Rotating roster.

The selection process may include aptitude assessments, a behavioural interview and a medical risk category 3 check.

It is expected that all employees complete at least 12 months of continuous service in their current position before making an application for an alternate role. Employees who are in their probationary period at the time of application are ineligible to apply.
