Reporting to the Manager Operational Planning, could you be our next Coach Planning Officer?
About the role
The Coach Planning Officer works as part of the broader Coach Management Team and plays a key role in ensuring reliable alternative transport services for V/Line customers during planned works, service disruptions, special events and timetable changes.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and coach operators, you will develop and coordinate coach, bus and accessible transport plans that support safe, efficient and customer-focused service delivery across the network.
You will also help ensure coach operations meet the requirements of published timetables, altered service schedules and contractual obligations.
Key accountabilities include:
Develop and coordinate coach, bus and alternative transport plans for planned disruptions, infrastructure occupations, timetable changes and special events.
Create and maintain coach service plans, ensuring routes, journey times and service schedules are accurate, compliant and operationally effective.
Order and roster coaches, buses, accessible taxis and supervisors to ensure safe, compliant and cost-effective service delivery.
Build strong relationships with coach operators and internal stakeholders to support the delivery of scheduled and replacement transport services.
Maintain planning data, reporting and documentation to support informed decision-making, continuous improvement and contractual compliance.
To be considered for entry into the selection process for this role, applicants must meet the following ‘key selection criteria, which form part of our merit-based recruitment process. Demonstrated experience in planning, transport planning, logistics coordination or a similar operational environment.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate outcomes under tight timeframes.
Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
This position is covered by the V/Line Rail Operations and Administration Employees Agreement 2023 and is classified as Clerk C7, with a base salary of $124,142 plus superannuation.
The selection process may include aptitude assessments, and a behavioural interview.
It is expected that all employees will complete at least 12 months of continuous service in their current position before making an application for an alternate role. Employees who are in their probationary period at the time of application are ineligible to apply.
