Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support & Client Engagement
- Observe and participate in behavioral health service delivery under the supervision of licensed clinicians.
- Assist in supporting clients with coping skills, emotional regulation, and behavioral health strategies as directed by supervising staff.
- Participate in client sessions, group activities, or skill-building exercises when appropriate and approved by the supervising clinician.
- Support client engagement and therapeutic rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Assist with connecting clients to community resources and support services when appropriate
Documentation & Compliance
- Assist in drafting clinical documentation and progress notes under supervision in accordance with agency and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record system as directed by supervising clinicians.
- Ensure all client information is handled in compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality regulations.
- Follow agency standards for documentation, privacy, and ethical practice.
Internship & School Agreement Compliance
- Maintain active communication with academic advisors and agency supervisors regarding internship requirements.
- Ensure all academic program requirements, hours, assignments, and documentation are completed and submitted according to school guidelines.
- Assume responsibility for understanding and complying with all school internship agreements, policies, and professional expectations.
- Ensure internship activities align with both agency policies and the educational institution’s internship standards.
- Notify supervisors promptly of any changes, concerns, or requirements related to the internship agreement.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work collaboratively with clinical staff, case managers, and other team members to support client care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings when appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with staff while demonstrating professionalism and ethical conduct.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients, families, and colleagues.
Training & Professional Development
- Participate in required supervision sessions with designated clinical supervisors.
- Attend agency trainings, staff meetings, and learning opportunities when available.
- Develop knowledge of behavioral health practices, community resources, and client support strategies.
- Demonstrate commitment to learning, growth, and professional development throughout the internship.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, or a related behavioral health field.
- Must be participating in an internship, practicum, or field placement required by their educational institution.
- Ability to follow supervision and receive constructive feedback.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to ethical practice and professional conduct.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn electronic health record systems
