Principal Engineer, Data & Platforms

The Role  

This is a highly influential technical leadership role where you’ll shape the direction, performance and evolution of our data platform capability.

As our Principal Engineer, Data & Platforms, your key responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

• Own thehealth, performance and optimisation of our enterprise data platform
• Lead thedesign and architecture of scalable, secure and efficient data solutions
• Drive the evolution of ourdata capabilities, supporting advanced and intelligent use cases across the business
• Set and govern engineering standards acrossdata architecture, performance and best practice development
• Championmodern data practices, including automation, observability and data quality
• Partner closely with engineering leaders and stakeholders to shapedata-driven capabilities across the organisation
• Leadplatform security, governance and compliance, ensuring robust and scalable foundations
• Supportcost awareness and optimisation, driving efficient and sustainable platform usage

About you

• Proven experience as aPrincipal or Lead Data Engineer within modern cloud environments
• Strong expertise in building and optimisingenterprise-scale data platforms
• Experience working withmodern data tooling and cloud technologies (experience with Snowflake or similar platforms highly regarded)
• Hands-on experience acrossdata engineering ecosystems such as dbt, infrastructure as code, cloud services and programming languages like Python
• A track record of deliveringscalable, high-performing data solutions
• Strong understanding ofdata modelling, governance and platform design principles
• Exposure tofinancial services or regulated environments (highly regarded)
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and business stakeholders
