People & Culture Manager
Location: Fontana, California
Schedule: Full-time, on-site Monday through Friday
Salary: $90,000 to $100,000
Bonus: Up to 20% discretionary
Travel: Approximately 10% within California
A growing organization is seeking a hands-on HR professional to support multiple operational teams and locations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being visible, approachable and closely connected to employees and managers in a fast-moving workplace.
The position will have a strong focus on employee relations, workplace investigations, California employment compliance and talent acquisition. You will serve as a trusted partner to operational leadership while helping strengthen hiring, retention and the overall employee experience.
What You’ll Do
- Coach managers and employees through workplace concerns and performance matters
- Conduct fair and thorough employee investigations
- Support corrective actions, progressive discipline, and terminations
- Guide California employment laws and company policies
- Partner with leaders on recruiting strategies and workforce needs
- Participate in interviews, candidate selection, and pre-employment processes
- Help improve onboarding, employee engagement and retention initiatives
- Support multiple locations and balance competing priorities effectively
- Maintain accurate HR documentation and assist with broader HR programs
What We’re Looking For
- At least five years of progressive HR experience
- Background as an HR Manager, HR Business Partner or senior-level HR Generalist
- Strong knowledge of California employment law
- Substantial hands-on employee relations and workplace investigation experience
- Experience advising managers on performance, discipline and conflict resolution
- Meaningful recruiting and talent acquisition experience
- Strong judgment, communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work onsite in Fontana and travel occasionally within California
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- HR certification is a plus
Preferred Background
- Bilingual English and Spanish
- Experience within logistics, transportation, trucking, distribution, warehousing, manufacturing or another high-volume operational environment
- Multi-location HR support experience
- Familiarity with Paylocity
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
