About this role

Responsible for providing administrative support for student services and student activities on the western campuses. Assists with student events and special projects on and off-campus. This position requires the ability to travel and work a fluctuating schedule, including evenings, weekends.

What a day of a Student Services Specialist looks like: 

  • Performs administrative duties that require broad and comprehensive knowledge of the organization’s policies and operations.
  • Monitors and ensures proper handling of incoming correspondence and deliveries. Manages outgoing mail, in-house memos, and supplies distributions.
  • Performs administrative support functions such as scheduling use of conference room, appointments, meetings, making photocopies, scanning documents, and screening phone calls.
  • Prepares payroll, processes electronic purchase orders, and assists with department budget activities.
  • Maintains the department website(s) using established web templates.
  • Designs, edits, and produces brochures, catalogs, newsletters, logos, reports, flyers, posters, manuals or specialized publications. Assists in the distribution of these items internally and externally. Creates new presentations using existing templates and files.
  • Makes college-related travel arrangements for students, staff, or supervisor. Provides transportation to students for College events.
  • Determines need for office supplies, equipment, and materials. Replaces or purchases new office supplies and equipment as needed. Selects, maintains, stores, and keeps inventory for athletic and wellness equipment.
  • Travels to meetings, seminars and conferences outside of college locations. Attends extracurricular, intramural and other cultural, social and community events as required
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of related experience

Knowledge of:

  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar application

Skilled in:

  • Delivering a high level of customer service
  • Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management

                                

Ability to:

  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of service
  •  Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public
  • Organize and prioritize multiple, competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

  • Regular physical attendance required
  • Valid Florida driver’s license

The minimum base pay for this position starts at $17.95 Hourly; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
