The Language Technologies Institute (LTI) at Carnegie Mellon University is a world-renowned research and education hub at the forefront of natural language processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction. Established within the School of Computer Science, LTI pioneers innovative approaches to understanding, processing, and generating human language in both written and spoken forms.

LTI is seeking aResearch Assistant to join the team! In this role, you will assist with conducting work in natural language processing and machine learning, evaluating the ability of AI agents to collaborate on knowledge-intensive tasks such as software engineering.

Core Responsibilities

• Performs basic data analysis in order to produce reports. Documents results and processes.
• May test software prototypes. May interact with research subjects in order to perform job functions.
• Follows research plans in order to collect, record, and manipulate research data. Maintains accurate and detailed research records and files.
• Performs library research and field explorations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Previous research experience preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, reasoning, and analytical skills.
• A combination of education and proven experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
