Purpose:

Provide support & advice in all areas of people management & development, focus on the improvement of early career talent progression rates, leadership diversity, and sustained improvements in high potential talent retention & be responsible for HR operation activities. The role will be responsible for supporting & coordinating a wide variety of HR activities including resourcing, onboarding, employee relations, disciplinary action, talent Management and development, Early Careers, legal matters of the site, performance management, policy procedure interpretation, and employee recognition.

Key Activities:

  • Collaborate with division Global HR Directors and Region HR Business Partners to identify high potential talent across the division.
  • Collaborate with division Global HR Directors and Region HR Business Partners to identify new/existing high priority positions in the region where a vacancy is expected, and available internal high potential talent pools suitable to review for those position.
  • Work with functional manager/s: manage the delivery and administration of HR processes such as Employee relations, Compensation, Wage & Benefit and performance management
  • Actively participate in region talent reviews and succession planning discussions and provide organizational leaders with high potential talent recommendations.
  • Ensure assistance is available to counsel employees and managers to resolve grievance issues such as policy and procedure interpretation, performance expectations, absenteeism, discipline, and workplace harassment and discrimination.
  • Conduct monthly status meetings with the Global HR Directors and Region HR Business Partners to review progress on identified high potential talent.
  • Provide consultation, resources and training assistance to department and division management to assess and address ongoing training and development needs for early career employees.
  • Provide support and oversight to ensure the entire early career cycle is successfully implemented with relevant milestones recognized and documents in collaboration with the functional SPOC.
  • Design and implement programs to support the professional development of early career talent within the organization.
  • Continuously monitor the diversity and progress of our early career (i.e., DISCOVER) and technical career (i.e., SUMMIT) talent pipelines and ensure their long-term readiness and development is being considered in region succession plans for high priority positions.
  • Delivers site/functional communications in accordance with group/divisional/functional communication strategies. Collects and analyses feedback from communications and works with constituents to develop recommended actions.
  • Manage recruitment process and ensure compliance with prevailing regulations. Conduct new employee orientations.
  • Assure company compliance with all applicable regulations and respond to questions regarding regulations, consulting legal counsel when necessary.

  • Master’s degree in human resources or related field with minimum 10 years of experience of which at least 8 years in HR Generalist role in a Manufacturing or Engineering Services environment preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to shape and lead human resource programs to maximize support for company strategic business goals.
  • Ability to build relationship as trusted advisor to management, proactively managing the stakeholders within Smiths organization.
  • Excellent influencing, communication and people management skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff.
  • Highly motivated with initiative and drive; results-oriented and customer-focused.

  • Thorough knowledge of concepts and practices within the human resource function
  • Current knowledge of national and regional legal and regulatory environments and requirements
  • Ability to negotiate and lead discussion with managers, employees, employees’ representatives
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Can work independently and possesses good decision-making skills.  
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
