Salary Range:
Range: MG-10: $135,469 (Step A), $140,888 (Step B), or $146,524 (Step C) annually
Doctoral Bonus: An employee with an earned doctorate from an accredited collegiate institution will receive a $2,000 annual doctoral stipend. Any additional earned doctorate will not be eligible for additional amounts.
Benefits: A comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance is offered to interim employees.

Job Description
SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Vice President of Student Services, the Dean of Student Affairs provides leadership, strategic direction, and budget management in the following areas: Gizmo’s Kitchen, Associated Students of Grossmont College, Commencement, Inter Club Council, Student Health and Wellness and Student Conduct.
The Dean of Student Affairs serves as a manager for both classified professionals and faculty, leads the College's Prevent, Assess and Care Team (PACT), and coordinates with a variety of other college and district offices in support of the College's mission, vision, and strategic goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage, evaluateandcoordinate academic subject areasandstudent servicesinaccordancewith legalrequirements, district policiesandsoundinstructionalandstudent services principles and practices.
Establish overallgoals,objectivesandplans; initiateandparticipateinoverall program planning; communicate statutes, districtandcollege policiesandphilosophiestodivision staff.
Performthehiring, evaluationandretentionofassignedfaculty andstaff accordingtostatutesandGoverning Board policy;planandcoordinate orientationandin-service educationforprofessional developmentofprogramfaculty and staff.
Preparefacultyteaching assignmentsandschedules;assigncertificatedandclassifiedstafftowork areas,hours andduties;orient andassistnewpersonnelasneeded.
Prepare budgetsandsubmit through appropriate channelsforapproval; monitorandcontrol assignedprogram-operating budgets; initiatespecial fundrequests; determineneed andpriorityforcapitalequipmentandmaterials.
Serve as a member of district, site or other committees and task forces.
Participatein publicinformation activitiestopromoteandpublicizetotalinstructionalandstudent services programs; respondtoinquiries regarding curriculumorcourse offeringsandservices provided.
Prepare catalog material, class schedulesandother program informationasrequired;recommendandimplementnewprogramstoenhancethecollegemission andenrollment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Anycombination equivalentto:Master's degreefrom anaccredited institution plusfiveyearsofachievementinmanagement, supervisionorleadership programs, departmentsordivisions withinaninstitutionofhigher education,withemphasisin oneor more of theareastowhichtheDeanpositionisassigned.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
In-depth knowledge of the Education Code, Title 5 and other administrative regulations and the ability to apply these regulations.
Sensitivity to all facets of the community including the needs of various groups which comprise it.
Ability to successfully delegate, ensure adherence to College and District policies, practices and procedures, hold others responsible yet instill confidence among the faculty and staff.
Ability to exercise academic leadership to advance the College's mission.
Facilitate communication and understanding of perspectives among faculty, staff, and students, within the framework of a multi-college district.
Commitment to the community college concept, including the open door philosophy and a diverse curriculum for a heterogeneous student population.
Ability to participate in the Community College planning process while participating in the achievement of the goals and priorities of the District as a whole.
Ability to work cooperatively and responsively with all segments of the College, District and community at large.
Facilitate communication and understanding among faculty, staff, students, and the community, within the framework of a multi-college district.
