Position Overview

This position will primarily fulfill the role of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our WS_FTP, KiteWorks and Box.com environments. As a File Transfer Administrator the selected candidate will step into a critical role to ensure a secure and efficient transfer of data between internal and external environments for our customers. The primary responsibility will be the management of the file transfer processes, account request administration, monitoring performance and troubleshooting issues that arise while working closely with our customers and other team members as necessary.

 

Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)

The selected candidate will be responsible for the management of our current internal and external WS_FTP server resources, operations, support, and maintenance activities as assigned for continual operations in support of the File Transport Protocol infrastructure. We have recently implemented a new KiteWorks environment that will replace the WS_FTP File Transfer and BOX.com environments. This process is currently active and will take up to 8-12 months to ensure a smooth transition to completion. The candidate will work with our customers to ensure account management policies are in place and followed. You will be part of a team that operates day-to-day activities in support of break-fix, data calls, audits and general support tickets as assigned.

 

Under the collective group of Management and Peers, you will assist with and work towards becoming proficient in the following responsibilities:

  • Solid knowledge of file transfer and networking protocols (SFTP/FTP, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, etc.).
  • Understanding of the administration and day-to-day support of the WS_FTP, Kiteworks and Box.com environment.
  • Proficiency with Windows Server 2019/2022, TCP/IP, Active Directory and Azure cloud hosting.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytics with attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated with initiative and creativity to work scope.
  • Cloud technology experience a plus.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate and as assigned.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proven experience in managed file transfer protocols such as FTP, SFTP and HTTP/S.
  • Proficiency with Windows Server 2019/2022, TCP/IP, Active Directory and Azure cloud hosting.
  • Highly motivated with initiative and creativity to work scope.
  • Familiarity with file encryption, decryption and secure file transfer practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in managed file transfer.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process optimization and automation to enhance efficiency.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff, affiliated-company employees as well as outside business associates; exhibits and brings a professional manner in dealing with others.
  • Ability to performance tune through query optimization using related monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge with current technical standards, IT concepts, administrative tools, Backup and Recovery, Disaster Recovery. Understanding of IT strategies and methodologies.
  • Work independently, as well as on a team, prioritize workload while working multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office products, and industry-standard computer software.
  • Cloud technology experience a plus.
  • High degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information.


Physical Abilities

  • Sufficient fine motor skills for the use of computers, calculators with an ability to withstand repetitive keyboarding for extended periods of time.
  • Visual and communications ability, adequate to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to kneel, bend and twist at the waist on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to reach below shoulder height with regular frequency (desk position) and at or above shoulder height on occasion.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Must be able to work off hours or weekends for scheduled updates or upgrades quarterly or for critical patching requirements.
  • Ability to pass a background and drug screening.
  • Must have identification compliant with the Real ID Act at time of hire.
  • Must be able to obtain Department of Energy PIV badge. 
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance. 


 Preferred Qualifications

  • Troubleshooting and resolve FTP technology issues, server performance degradation, Kiteworks User Account setup and access issues, connectivity and security issues troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical ability when working with peers and IT management.
  • Ability to performance tune through query optimization using related monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge with current Technical Standards, IT Concepts, Administrative tools, Backup and Recovery, Disaster Recovery. 
  • Understanding of IT strategies and methodologies.


Pay Range: $82,912.00 - $146,200.00/ yearly
