Are you passionate about delivering complex turnaround events safely, efficiently, and with precision? As a Senior Turnaround Planner, you will play a critical role in the success of our turnaround program by developing detailed, execution-ready work packages and plans that drive safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance execution. Working collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, Supply Chain, Scheduling, Quality, and Turnaround teams, you will ensure scopes are fully defined, resources are aligned, materials are available, and work is optimized well before execution begins. Your expertise in planning and turnaround readiness will help minimize risk, maximize productivity, and support the safe and successful return of critical assets to service.

Minimum Requirements 

• 5+ years of planning and scheduling experience
• Previous experience supporting maintenance, reliability and turnaround execution
• Mechanical trade certificate, technical diploma, engineering technology diploma, or equivalent technical and operational experience
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems, preferably SAP
• Strong understanding of maintenance and turnaround planning concepts, work package development, maintenance work management processes, planning norms, scheduling principles, and execution readiness requirements
• Experience developing detailed job plans, work packages, task lists, labour estimates, material plans, and service strategies for maintenance and turnaround work
• Ability to gather, assess, and validate technical information from engineering documents, asset history, field observations, reliability strategies, and stakeholder input
• Demonstrated ability to identify risks, constraints, adverse cost conditions, and execution challenges, and develop practical solutions to address them
• Knowledge of OEMS processes, procedures, standards, tools, and the Regional Turnaround Planning Playbook

Responsibilities:

• Identify continuous improvement opportunities in planning activities, task lists, work practices, planning standards, and work package quality
• Review and prioritize assigned turnaround worklist scope and relevant background documentation and develop optimized turnaround job plans and high-quality work packages that support safe, efficient, and competitive turnaround execution
• Identify and sequence all required resources, materials, equipment, services, and supporting activities required to prepare, execute, and close out turnaround work scope
• Coordinate the supply of parts, materials, special tools, rental equipment, and external services while preparing relevant planning and procurement documentation, following the Manage Goods & Services process
• Collaborate with Operations, Reliability and Maintenance Engineering, Supply Chain, Scheduling, Turnaround Execution, QA, contractors, and other stakeholders to support turnaround planning and execution readiness
• Apply OEMS practices and the Regional Turnaround Planning to all turnaround planning activities and ensure compliance with Suncor standards for safety, operating integrity, risk management, and environmental stewardship

Location and Other Key Details:

• This position is located at our Mildred Lake Syncrude Location in Fort McMurray, AB
• You will work a Monday to Friday, 40 hour work week with your schedule changing during the execution window
