
Senior Manager - SHE
Typical Accountabilities:
• Accountable at a country or regional functional level for both setting Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) policy and plans and the overall performance of the local SHE organisation
• Provides strong input into country SHE strategy and helps to ensure that the strategy aligns with and supports wider regional and global plans
• Direct impact on the overall effectiveness and SHE performance within their direct area of responsibility within the SHE leadership team
• Owns and deals with a wide range of problems that require complex judgements and innovative solutions
• Owns and deals with the significant breadth and degree of Country / Unit / Site Risk profile
• Work within the country SHE Leadership team and unit / site SHE group(s) to co-ordinate SHE activities, ensure economies of scale and networking of expertise
• Manages the interface with relevant external regulatory bodies and will maintain effective community liaison on all aspects of SHE
• Provides strategic leadership on Country/ Unit/ Site SHE issues as an active member of the Country SHE leadership Team and be responsible for managing a SHE budget, ensuring contribution to business targets
• Instigates and actively manages on-going change and associated uncertainty across a major part of the organisation through effective influencing and interaction with senior members of the business and relevant functions
Typical People Management Responsibility (direct / indirect reports):
• Approximate number of people managed in total (all levels) - 5 – 10
• Manager of a team

• Remit which covers all AstraZeneca countries
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Essential: In-depth specialist knowledge of one subject area that is key to the business, or a comprehensive understanding of the theories and practice in a wide number of specialist areas; Requires a degree and further qualifications in a scientific/engineering discipline; Experience of managing a team of senior direct reports with mixed specialisms; Experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or Research & Development environment; Good appreciation of SHE processes and policies, and have senior management, consultancy or advisory experience in influencing strategy; Significant experience in people management and networking in a matrix organisation and in managing financial budgets; Full and detailed knowledge of all relevant Safety, Health and Environment legislation and management and relevant International Standards Organization / British Standards requirements
• Desirable: Specialist experience in a SHE department or related discipline
