Operations Manager

We are looking for an experiencedOperations Manager to join Scope Impact in a permanent position based in Helsinki.

Scope Impact’s mission is to protect health in a changing climate, with a focus on climate resilience and adaptation. The company develops products and solutions that help people and communities prepare for and respond to the health impacts of climate change, including its key product, Halla Health.

As Operations Manager, you will play a key role in making sure Scope works effectively as an organisation – from people and processes to resources and ways of working. You will lead the development of Scope’s day-to-day operations, take ownership of the company’s HR function, and work closely with teams across the organisation, both in Finland and internationally.

This is a broad and hands-on role where you will have the opportunity to shape how Scope operates as it develops and grows. You will identify areas for improvement, create structure where needed and turn ideas into practical ways of working.

A key part of the role is creating the conditions for people and teams to do their best work. As Scope’s primary HR lead, you will lead and develop HR practices and processes, recruitment, onboarding and employee development. You will work closely with managers and employees to create a working environment where collaboration, wellbeing and Scope’s values are part of everyday working life.

You will also work closely with Scope’s product teams. With Halla Health as Scope’s key product, you will work with product and team leads to ensure that resources, processes and ways of working support effective product development, delivery and growth. You will identify operational bottlenecks, help teams navigate changing priorities and translate organisational goals into practical action.

We are looking for someone who enjoys seeing the bigger picture while also being comfortable getting involved in the details. You take initiative, enjoy improving how things work and are comfortable working both independently and with people across different teams, disciplines and cultures.

The position is full-time and based in Helsinki, with a hybrid working model.

In this role, you will:

•⁠ ⁠Lead and continuously improve Scope’s day-to-day operations, internal processes and ways of working

•⁠ ⁠Take ownership of HR operations and develop HR policies, practices and processes

•⁠ ⁠Lead recruitment, onboarding and employee development activities

•⁠ ⁠Work closely with managers on people-related matters and organisational development

•⁠ ⁠Coordinate resource planning with team leads, balancing workloads, project needs and available resources across the organisation

•⁠ ⁠Work closely with product teams and product leadership to develop processes and ways of working that support effective product development, delivery and growth

•⁠ ⁠Identify operational bottlenecks and lead improvements across teams

•⁠ ⁠Develop Scope’s internal systems, documentation and knowledge management practices

•⁠ ⁠Drive the practical use of AI in operational processes to improve efficiency, decision-making and ways of working

•⁠ ⁠Oversee procurement, vendors, administration and operational compliance

•⁠ ⁠Coordinate operational matters with Scope’s international teams, partners and funders

•⁠ ⁠Help translate organisational priorities and strategy into clear operational plans and actions

What we are looking for:

•⁠ ⁠A relevant Master’s degree

•⁠ ⁠At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in operations or a related role, ideally within a product or growth company

•⁠ ⁠Strong HR expertise and experience independently managing and developing people-related processes

•⁠ ⁠Experience in recruitment, onboarding and employee development

•⁠ ⁠A track record of improving processes, systems and ways of working

•⁠ ⁠Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several priorities and workstreams simultaneously

•⁠ ⁠A proactive and solution-oriented approach – you identify opportunities for improvement and take responsibility for moving them forward

•⁠ ⁠Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams, disciplines and cultures

•⁠ ⁠Excellent written and spoken English

•⁠ ⁠Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and project management tools

Experience in social impact, climate or public health organisations is considered an advantage, as is experience with donor- or grant-funded projects and related reporting.
