Summary

Methodist University, located in Fayetteville, NC, is seeking a 9-month, full-time, open rank BS-OTA faculty member.  Methodist University Occupational Therapy Assistant Program is a Bachelor of Science program. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with level of education as well as professional and academic experience.  We are seeking applicants passionate about teaching who can add to our team approach to occupational therapy education.  In addition to faculty responsibilities (teaching, scholarship, service) this faculty position will serve as theCoordinator for the BS-OTA Baccalaureate Project.  This is a full-time, tenure track position that requires day and occasional evening & weekend availability.

Position Description
OTA faculty are responsible for leveraging their expertise to develop, maintain and deliver core education courses to students through:

  • Preparing course plans, materials, and student assessment methods
  • Delivering course instruction & student evaluation
  • Monitoring academic, clinical skill, and professional behavior progress
  • Facilitating interprofessional and intraprofessional learning activities
  • Advising students
  • Support and mentor students in the development, implementation, and evaluation of baccalaureate project
  • Maintain policies, curriculum, and assessment of baccalaureate project for the BS-OTA Program
  • Contribute to accreditation reporting
  • Establishing and maintaining ongoing professional scholarship and development
  • Maintaining a record of department, university, and community service

Other duties:

  • Attend all faculty and departmental meetings.
  • Participation in the selection of applicants for admission to the program
  • Attendance of educational conferences and workshops.
  • Participation in state and national OT associations, leadership positions are encouraged.
  • Other duties as assigned by the dean or department chair.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Master’s degree required
  • May be initially certified OT or OTA practitioner
  • A current, unrestricted North Carolina OT or OTA license (or eligible)
  • At least 2 years of clinical practice in the field of occupational therapy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with ACOTE Standards and the accreditation processes. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of practice settings across the lifespan.
  • Ability to support and mentor students in the development, implementation, and evaluation of project-based work involving diverse populations, community needs, and emerging practice areas.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based practice, scholarly inquiry, and project development
