Senior Electrical Project EngineerJob Description
We are looking for anElectrical Project Engineer Senior level that will support the North American Service Distribution Team.Â
This is a remote position and requires frequent travel to customer sites.Â
Vanderlande’s Engineering Department is responsible for the design, specification, and commissioning of Material Handling Systems for our customers throughout North America.
In this position you will be working with an engineering project team focused onÂ
retrofitting brownfield customer facilities sites with complex automated material handling systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the design meets the customer requirements, is coordinated with other trades to ensure proper operation, can be installed and operated with efficiency, and maintain excellent communication with the site team.Â
Success in this role involves the ability to balance the technical requirements of the role while also having the soft skills to collaborate with and motivate the engineering team.  It also involves working closely with stakeholders from other disciplines and other departments to balance priorities, improve processes and satisfy a complex set of goals. Â

skills, drive, and passion.  A successful candidate will demonstrate a keen intuition for problem solving and have the knowledge and skills to help other team members to solve problems. Â
Key Responsibilities:Â
Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:Â
• Develop compliant electrical and process control systems that meet the customer specifications and safety regulationsÂ
• Peer review designs created by other engineers to ensure compliance to customer specifications and safety regulationsÂ
• Optimize the system functionality from as-sold to a working electrical design within the budget in consultation with other disciplines (Mechanical, Controls, Supply Chain, Installation, etc.)Â
• Design, review, and approve system and component level calculations to sizeÂ
components and equipment for the application (conductor sizing, voltage drop,Â
motor starters, overcurrent and short circuit protection, control panels, controlÂ
networks, harmonic studies, load studies, etc.)Â
• Design, review and approve complex process control systems using PLCs,Â
Photoeyes, Scanners, DC motors, Solenoids, Beacons, Horns, IO Blocks, Class 2Â
Power Supplies, non-Class 2 Power Supplies, VFDs (including STO), E-StopÂ
zones, Ethernet Networks, motor branch circuit grouping, etc.Â
• Engineering of project specials needed for non-standard design applicationsÂ
• Apply safety regulationsÂ
• Specify, review and approve the electrical and process control equipment required for the complete process system that operates and controls both Vanderlande manufactured, and third party purchased itemsÂ
• Use software tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Word, Excel, etc.) to develop electricalÂ
designs such as wiring diagrams, termination lists, Bill of Materials, etc.Â
• Document all engineering decisions through design plans, complete and clearÂ
installation files, and engineering instructions directed to a site supervisor andÂ
installation subcontractorÂ
• Travel to site as needed to conduct site surveysÂ
• Support the installation and commissioning both on site, and from your home officeÂ
• Project document control using a rights-based database systemÂ
Requirements:Â
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technologyÂ
• Minimum of 8 years of related work experience (4 years must be within the materialÂ
handling industry or other process industry)Â
• Or Associate EE/ET with 12 years related experience (4 years must be within the material handling industry or other process industry)Â
• Must be willing and able to travel domestically up to 30%Â
• Ability to think conceptually (overall process system design) and translate this into a detailed system designÂ
• Ability to guide others in developing engineering designs and justify the designs based on engineering judgement, industry practice, and codes and standardsÂ
• Ability to work in an entrepreneurial organization were cooperating with others and being a team member is naturalÂ
• Strong communicator, able to effectively understand and set expectations forÂ
deliverablesÂ
• Able to handle time sensitive situations and quickly set the right priorities, while maintaining a firm grasp of the detailsÂ

• Advanced knowledge/experience with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code)Â
• Experience designing low voltage power distribution systems and process control systemsÂ
Desired Qualifications:Â
• Knowledge/experience with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Occupational Safety and HealthÂ
StandardsÂ
• Knowledge/experience with NFPA 70EÂ
• Knowledge/experience with NFPA 79Â
• Knowledge/experience with UL 508A and designing UL rated control panelsÂ
• Knowledge/experience with ISO 13849-1 Safety of MachineryÂ

This is a full-time, exempt position, eligible to receive a yearly salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. The salary range listed represents the maximum and minimum starting base pay for this position as of the time of posting. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate-dependent.

Salary: $120,00-$140,000 a year.
