We are currently seeking a talented individual to become a Hotel Facilities Engineer.  An individual could be successful if they possess the following.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Hotel Facilities Engineer is responsible for preventative maintenance, repair, and upkeep of 200 hotel guest rooms and hotel-related spaces to ensure a safe, clean, fully operational, and guest-ready environment. This position presents a friendly and professional image and responds promptly to hotel maintenance needs while supporting an exceptional guest experience.

  • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior guest service in accordance with Oaklawn standards.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.
  • Performs preventative maintenance in approximately 200 hotel guest rooms to ensure all systems, fixtures, furniture, and technology are operating properly.
  • Conducts routine inspections of guest rooms and hotel areas to identify maintenance concerns and proactively address issues before impacting the guest experience.
  • Performs minor plumbing repairs, including shower head replacement, faucet repairs, toilet adjustments, drain issues, and minor leak repairs.
  • Performs minor electrical repairs, including replacing switches, outlets, light fixtures, bulbs, batteries, and troubleshooting minor electrical issues.
  • Performs caulking, sealing, grouting, and touch-up work in guest bathrooms and hotel areas to maintain quality standards.
  • Completes minor furniture and fixture repairs, including dresser repair, cabinet adjustments, hardware replacement, door alignment, and minor carpentry work.
  • Inspects, tests, and troubleshoots guest room technology, including televisions, tablets, remotes, internet connectivity, clocks, and other in-room systems to ensure proper functionality.
  • Replaces and repairs minor room components and fixtures as necessary to maintain room standards.
  • Responds to hotel guest maintenance requests and work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Opens, tracks, updates, and closes maintenance work orders accurately.
  • Maintains tools, supplies, and organized work areas.
  • Identifies and communicates any major repair needs to leadership.
  • Observes safety procedures and maintains compliance with company standards and applicable codes.
  • Assists with room turns, room inspections, and special hotel projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years hotel maintenance, apartment maintenance, facilities maintenance, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience with basic plumbing, minor electrical, carpentry, and preventative maintenance required.
  • Experience troubleshooting TVs, tablets, and guest room technology preferred.
  • Ability to use hand tools and basic maintenance equipment.
  • Strong guest service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work orders in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Must be able to perform the physical job duties of all Facilities team members.
  • Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES                                                    

This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have acceptable driving history as determined by Oaklawn Jockey Club.
