Java Engineer

We're looking for aJava Engineer to join our DHA EIDS team, building and maintaining the backend services and integrations that power enterprise health data delivery across the Military Health System.

What you'll be doing:

• Design and develop backend services and APIs inJava (Java 11/17+) and.NET (ASP.NET Core / .NET 6+)
• Build and maintainREST APIs and microservices usingSpring Boot andASP.NET Core
• Work across the full backend stack including business logic, data access, and API integrations
• Write clean, well-tested code usingJUnit,xUnit/NUnit, and test-driven development practices
• LeverageAI-assisted development tools such asClaude Code orCursor to accelerate delivery while maintaining code quality and security
• Contribute toCI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices usingGit,GitHub Actions, or similar tooling
• Participate in code reviews, technical design, and Agile ceremonies

What you’ll bring:

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• StrongJava proficiency with hands-on experience in modern Java and theSpring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, JPA/Hibernate)
• .NET development experience includingC#,ASP.NET Core, and Web API development
• Proficiency inSQL and relational databases such asMS SQL Server orOracle
• Experience withunit and integration testing frameworks
• Demonstrated experience usingAI coding tools such asClaude Code orCursor for development tasks
• Experience withDocker,Kubernetes, orAWS is a plus
• Understanding of federal security and compliance requirements is a plus
• Thrives in a remote, collaborativeAgile environment and genuinely enjoys working closely with a cross-functional team
• Communicates clearly and openly, whether in a code review or a cross-team planning session
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Compensation:

At Oddball, it’s important each employee is compensated competitively and fairly. In alignment with state legal requirements. A range for the included position is listed below. Be advised, actual offer details are determined by job category, job location, and candidate skill level.

United States Wage Range: $100,000 – $140,000
