Material Handler - Distribution

Position Overview:

Identifies and transports material to and from storage areas, machines, loading docks and trucks safely and efficiently using established procedures. Operates an industrial lift truck to stage materials in accordance with move tickets, pick lists or verbal instructions; unloads trucks; receives and puts product away. Verifies part numbers and quantities and ensures the accuracy of all documentation with the use of computers, scanning devices and attention to detail. Responsibilities may vary by department.

Responsibilities:

• Must maintainandcomply withallsafety rulesat alltimes while working from production scheduleorshipping pick form to transport materialto and fromdesignated areas while carefully identifying part numbersandverifying quantities. Reportsanyinconsistenciesorproblemstosupervisor.
• Abilitytoprocess trans-loadsfor allinboundandout boundcross-dock.
• Identification ofmaterials to bemoved. Crossreferenceswithproductionschedule or pickform andmoves torequired location.
• Prepares ordersforaccurate, on-time shipmentofproducts.
• Verifies partnumbers. Completesappropriatedocumentation andfiles.Ensuresthat allproductshaveproperdocumentation beforetransport.
• Receives inbound materials, verifying informationandquantity against packing sliporpurchase order. Identifiesandreportsanydiscrepancies.
• Uses snips, hammerandvarious hand toolsto openloads, removes strapping, wrappinganddisposes safely. Places protective material around loadsand useshandorautomatic wrapping equipmenttosecure in-plant handling, storage, or final shipmenttocustomers.
• Handles anddisposes of scrap ortrash intocompactor andactivatescompactingcycle allwhilekeepingwarehouse incleanandorderlycondition.
• Performs operationsandsafety checksonequipment priorto start ofshift, including battery, brakesandlift controls. Also prepares equipmentforchargingat the end ofshift.
• Cycle counts inventory when directedandmeets essential productivity standardsinshippingandreceiving.

Requirements:

• High school diplomaand two tothreeyears ofmaterial handling/forklift experiencerequired.
• Basic computer skillswith theabilityto learnOracle,MSOffice Outlookandscanningsystems.
• Possessalikingofbasic math skillsandworking knowledgeof partnumbersandproducts.
• Excellent interpersonal skillsandwritten communication skillswith theabilitytoprioritizeallresponsibilities.
• Abilitytoliftup to 60pounds.

Shift
