OVERVIEWĀ
Marathon Petroleum Companyās Illinois Refining Division in Robinson, IL is seeking aProcess Design Engineer II/III. This positionāsprimary function is tocontribute to refinery/organizationalprocess optimizationandproject development.This includesidentifyingopportunities anddevelopingprojects to increase throughput,enhanceyields, improve reliability, andoptimize energyor wateruse in process units.This position reports to the Process Optimization & Growth Manager.Ā

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESĀ
Contributes to refinery/organizational long-termstrategy development andidentifies opportunities toincrease throughput, improve yields, increasereliability andoptimize energy use in process units.Supports the development of process designs fornew projects and unit modifications, including PFDs,P&IDs, and heat/material balances.Ā
May perform process simulations and calculations tosupport equipment sizing, hydraulic analysis, andenergy optimization as well as lead economicanalysis andestablish project rate of return.Ā
Collaborates with project engineers, operations, andexternal vendors to ensure alignment of design withoperational needs.Ā
Prepares process design packages and supportHAZOPs, LOPA studies, and other safety reviews.Ā
Stays current with industry standards and bestpractices to ensure high-quality, cost-effectivedesigns.Ā

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEĀ
Ā
Minimum (Required) Qualifications:Ā
Bachelorās degree in chemical engineeringĀ
Two (2) years ofprocessengineeringexperience within refining or heavy industryĀ
A valid driverās licenseĀ Ā
Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the futureĀ
Must be able to wearappropriate PPE in the refinery and be able to physically perform all tasks in the fieldĀ
Preferred Qualifications:Ā
Four (4) years of process engineeringexperience within refining or heavy industryĀ
Two (2) plus years of project or process design experienceĀ

Microsoft Office applications, includingExcelĀ
Petrosimor similar process modelling such as MySepĀ

2. šššÆšæš¶š±: 4 days in the office, 1 day work-from-home per week, 8 hours per day.Ā
3. šµ/š“š¬ š¦š°šµš²š±šš¹š²: 9 hours Monday-Thursday in the office, with every other Friday off. On working Fridays, the schedule is 8 hours.Ā
Additional hours as needed for turnaround and outage support.Ā
