What you'll do...
Role summary:As an Associate Merchant, you will support category management by facilitating supplier negotiations, managing purchase orders, and resolving supplier-related issues to ensure accurate product setup across stores and online channels. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance customer experience through effective communication, data analysis, and execution of promotional activities. You will contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and assortment planning while leveraging digital tools to drive category performance. The position requires strong vendor relationship management and strategic insight to support business objectives and deliver value to customers.
About the team:
The Household Essentials team leads merchandising and purchasing across key consumable categories within Walmart. Operating in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, the team develops category strategies covering assortment, pricing, promotions, and inventory to drive business outcomes and deliver value to customers. Team members work cross-functionally and with major consumer packaged goods companies, leveraging data-driven insights to identify opportunities and make strategic decisions. This team plays a vital role in driving growth, strengthening supplier partnerships, and ensuring consistent delivery of quality products to Walmart customers every day.
What you'll do:
- Support supplier negotiations and manage purchase orders for assigned categories and subcategories.
- Assist merchants in resolving supplier issues and setting up new suppliers for stores and online channels.
- Execute customer communication and education programs in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ensure accuracy and quality of product page content and manage search query rules for assigned categories.
- Track category financial performance, support forecasting, and contribute to budgeting processes.
- Develop and implement feature proposals and modular assortment strategies across channels.
- Leverage data analysis tools to generate insights and support decision-making.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and internal partners.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience in vendor relationship management and supplier negotiations within a retail or e-commerce environment.
- Strong skills in category strategy development and execution to support business growth and customer satisfaction.
- Proficiency in data analysis and business analysis to derive insights and support decision-making processes.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Ability to manage purchase orders, resolve supplier issues, and support item setup for both stores and online channels.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and tracking category financial performance aligned with organizational targets.

The annual salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $130,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
