CarMax, the way your career should be!

Senior Consultant, Program Management

CarMax Auto Finance, Kennesaw, GA

About This Job

The Program Management Senior Consultant is an experienced individual contributor responsible for leading low to moderately complex business and technology programs or workstreams that support CarMax Auto Finance priorities. This role translates approved objectives into integrated plans, connects work across teams, and drives execution from initiation through implementation and transition. The Senior Consultant aligns stakeholders, manages cross-functional dependencies and risks, facilitates timely decisions, and maintains visibility into progress and intended business outcomes. This role develops sufficient knowledge of relevant customer needs, business processes, systems, and technology to anticipate impacts, ask informed questions, and engage the appropriate business partners.

What You Will Do

  • Independently lead low to moderately complex programs or workstreams involving multiple teams, stakeholders, systems, or business functions.
  • Develop and maintain integrated program plans that connect work across teams and workstreams, including milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, and implementation activities.
  • Align Product, Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Learning, Communications, and other business partners around shared objectives, responsibilities, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Facilitate planning sessions, program reviews, and stakeholder discussions to build alignment, resolve issues, and support timely decision-making.
  • Identify and manage cross-functional dependencies, risks, resource constraints, blockers, and competing priorities that may affect program outcomes, escalating significant concerns appropriately.
  • Monitor overall program health and maintain visibility into progress, milestones, dependencies, decisions, readiness activities, and expected business outcomes.
  • Coordinate implementation and readiness activities, including communications, training, operational readiness, transition support, and post-implementation follow-up.
  • Develop and apply knowledge of customer needs, business processes, stakeholder priorities, industry trends, emerging technologies, and AI-enabled capabilities to identify impacts, support planning, and drive successful program outcomes.

Purpose of the Role

The Program Management Senior Consultant helps CAF deliver business and technology programs through integrated planning, cross-functional coordination, and proactive management of dependencies, risks, and stakeholder alignment. This role helps ensure work remains connected across teams, decisions occur at the right time, and implementation activities support intended business outcomes. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, collaborative, and comfortable working independently across multiple priorities. The Senior Consultant understands enough about the business, customer, and technology environment to recognize impacts, connect the right partners, and support successful delivery while escalating significant strategic, funding, portfolio, or organizational decisions to the appropriate leaders.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in program management, project management, business, technology, operations, analytics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience leading projects, coordinating programs, or supporting cross-functional business or technology initiatives.
  • Experience developing and managing plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, and implementation activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate work across multiple teams and drive results through influence rather than direct authority.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience creating presentations, status updates, and stakeholder communications.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn emerging technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities, and how they may support business processes and program delivery.
  • Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery approaches preferred.
