General Practitioner (GP) Medical Doctor

POSITION OVERVIEW

A specialized Hair and Trichology Clinic in Johannesburg is seeking to appoint a qualified and professional General Practitioner to join its clinical team. This role is well suited to a newly qualified medical doctor seeking to develop within a structured, patient-centred, and clinically driven private practice environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting medical consultations, assessing patients presenting with hair and scalp concerns, identifying underlying medical contributors, and supporting safe, appropriate treatment planning within a multidisciplinary clinical setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct comprehensive patient consultations, clinical assessments, and medical history reviews
• Evaluate patients presenting with hair loss, scalp disorders, and related health concerns
• Identify underlying medical, hormonal, nutritional, or lifestyle factors that may impact hair and scalp health
• Recommend, request, and interpret relevant investigations within scope of practice
• Prescribe and manage appropriate treatment plans in accordance with clinical findings and regulatory standards
• Monitor patient progress, treatment response, and ongoing suitability for intervention
• Work collaboratively with the broader clinical team to support integrated patient care
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and legally compliant medical records
• Ensure all clinical practice is aligned with HPCSA standards, ethical guidelines, and applicable South African healthcare regulations

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
• Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
• Newly qualified doctors are welcome to apply
• Sound clinical assessment and decision-making capability
• Strong professional communication and patient engagement skills
• High levels of professionalism, clinical ethics, and attention to detail
• Ability to function effectively within a specialist private practice environment

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES

• Interest in clinical wellness, preventative care, hair restoration, or scalp-related medicine
• Exposure to primary care, outpatient practice, dermatology, or aesthetic medicine
• Ability to manage patients with sensitivity, professionalism, and a high standard of care
• Willingness to contribute to a growing and specialized area of healthcare service delivery
