A Day in the Life

The Production Planner is a key member of the Plymouth Nathan Lane Supply Chain team supporting the Peripheral Vascular Health (PVH) Operating Unit. This role is responsible for developing and executing production plans that ensure customer demand, service, inventory, and operational objectives are achieved. Working closely with Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, Engineering, Sourcing, and Operations teams, the Production Planner balances supply and demand across a complex manufacturing environment while driving schedule adherence and inventory performance.

The Production Planner manages production schedules, inventory performance, and backlog recovery activities while proactively identifying and mitigating risks that could impact product availability. Using Blue Yonder (BY) and SAP, this position analyzes demand signals, coordinates production execution, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures alignment with business objectives to support service, inventory, and cost goals.

This position is based at the Plymouth Nathan Lane facility in Plymouth, Minnesota and is an onsite role. Team members are expected to work onsite five days per week to support cross-functional collaboration and manufacturing operations. No travel is required for this position.

         

         

The Production Planner is responsible for developing and executing production plans that align customer demand, inventory targets, and manufacturing capacity. This role partners closely with Operations, Procurement, Quality, Engineering, Sourcing, and Global Supply Chain teams to maintain product availability, support schedule attainment, and drive inventory performance. The position uses planning systems and data analysis to identify risks, coordinate recovery activities, and support continuous improvement across the supply chain.Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain production schedules to support customer demand, inventory objectives, and manufacturing capacity requirements.
  • Analyze demand signals, material availability, and production constraints to identify risks and implement mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate production recovery activities for shortages, capacity limitations, backorders, and changing customer requirements.
  • Monitor work-in-process, finished goods inventory, and backlog performance to support service and operational goals.
  • Maintain planning master data, including lead times, lot sizes, safety stock settings, and other planning parameters.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, Engineering, and Global Supply Chain teams to ensure alignment of production plans and supply priorities.
  • Support engineering changes and product transitions while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using planning data, performance metrics, and business system capabilities.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience in production planning, supply chain, materials management, operations planning, manufacturing, or inventory management; or an advanced degree with 0 years of experience.
  • Experience supporting planning, scheduling, inventory management, or material requirements planning activities within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience analyzing operational data and using enterprise systems to support production and inventory decisions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to execute production plans and resolve supply-related issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing environment with multiple product lines and changing production priorities.
  • Experience using SAP and/or Blue Yonder to support production planning, inventory management, and material requirements planning.
  • Experience using Power BI or similar reporting tools to analyze supply chain, inventory, and production performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of schedule attainment, inventory management, backlog, backorders, material availability, and capacity planning principles.
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment such as medical device, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or other highly controlled industries.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, Yellow Belt, or other continuous improvement training or certification.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$67,200.00 - $100,800.00

 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuitionassistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
