Field Medical Affairs Lead - Lung Cancer (m/f/d) 

Reporting Line:Medical Head Oncology Germany 

People Management:4-6 Direct Reports (Field Medical Team) 

 

Objective 

The Field Medical Lead Lung Canceris responsible for developing and executing the field medical strategy across the Lung Cancer portfolio in Germany, ensuring excellence in scientific engagement, insight generation, launch readiness, and evidence generation. 

The role will play a critical leadership position within the Germany Oncology Medical Leadership Team and will be accountable for building, leading, and developing a high-performing Field Medical organization to support multipleanticipated launches across the lung cancer portfolio. 

The individual will partner closely with Commercial, Market Access, Clinical Development, Global Medical Affairs, and Medical Excellence to ensure seamless launch preparation and execution whilemaintaining the highest standards of scientific exchange and patient-focused impact. 

Given theanticipated launch cadence of up to three new assets within a shorttimeframe, the role requires exceptional strategic leadership, business acumen, operational excellence, and the ability to prioritize resources effectively across a complex portfolio. 

Key Responsibilities 

Field Medical Strategy and Execution 

  • Develop and implement the field medical strategy for the Lung Cancer portfolio in alignment with the overall medical and franchise strategy. 

  • Translate scientific priorities into impactful field medical plans. 

  • Ensure effective scientific engagement across key academic and community oncology centers. 

  • Drive high-quality insight gathering to shape local and global strategies. 

  • Establish mechanisms to translate field insights into actionable recommendations. 

Leadership of the Field Medical Organization 

  • Recruit, build, and lead a high-performing field medical team. 

  • Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. 

  • Coach and develop team members through structured talent development plans (ca. 0.5 FTE expectation on field). 

  • Ensure resource optimization across multiple assets and launch phases. 

  • Establish succession planning and long-term capability development. 

Launch Readiness and Launch Excellence 

  • Lead medical launch readiness activities across the Lung Cancer portfolio. 

  • Ensure field teams are prepared to support pre-launch scientific engagement and launch execution. 

  • Developlaunch readiness plans, KPIs, and governance processes. 

  • Coordinate scientific narrative development and external engagement strategies. 

  • Ensure alignment of launch activities with evolving healthcare system needs and treatment landscapes. 

  • Serve as a key medical leaderfor launch governance andlaunch excellence initiatives. 

Strategic Scientific Engagement 

  • Develop and oversee engagement strategies with national and regional Key Opinion Leaders. 

  • Build partnerships with academic institutions, cooperative groups, and scientific societies. 

  • Lead advisory boards and scientific exchange activities. 

  • Support generation of scientific advocacy and external stakeholder engagement plans beyond Tier 1 and 2. 

  • Strengthen GSK's scientific leadership position in thoracic oncology. 

Cross-Functional Leadership 

  • Act as strategic partnerto Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, Clinical Development, and Medical Affairs colleagues. 

  • Contribute to integrated brand planning and franchise development. 

  • Provide medical leadership during portfolio prioritization and resource allocation discussions. 

  • Support scenario planning and risk mitigation activities for upcoming launches. 

  • Influence strategic decisions through robust medical and scientific perspectives. 

Evidence Generation and Medical Innovation 

  • Identify evidence gaps and opportunities to improve patient outcomes. 

  • Support development and implementation of local evidence generation plans. 

  • Drive real-world evidence initiatives and collaborative research programs. 

  • Facilitate investigator-sponsored studies and scientific partnerships. 

  • Support publication planning and medical communications. 

Global Collaboration 

  • Serve as the German field medical representative within Global Medical Teams. 

  • Ensure local insights are incorporated into global asset strategies. 

  • Share local best practices and launch learnings across regions. 

  • Contribute to the development of futureevidence generation and engagement strategies. 

Governance and Compliance 

  • Ensure all field medical activitiescomply with internal policies and external regulations. 

  • Maintain the highest standards of scientific integrity. 

  • Support medical review and signatory responsibilities whereappropriate. 

  • Promote a strong compliance culture across the organization. 

Requirements Profile 

Education 

  • Advanced scientific degreerequired (MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent). 

  • Specialty experience in Oncology, Hematology, Respiratory Medicine, or related disciplines preferred. 

Professional Experience and Expertise 

Essential 

  • Significant pharmaceutical industry experience within Medical Affairs. 

  • Extensive Lung Cancer experience withdeep understanding of the thoracic oncology landscape. 

  • Demonstrated success supporting or leading oncology launches in Germany. 

  • Provenpeople leadership experience, including building and developing field medical teams. 

  • Strong experience navigating complex matrix organizations. 

  • Significant experience engaging with leading Lung Cancer experts and institutions. 

  • Strong understanding of German healthcare systems, reimbursement pathways, and access requirements. 

  • Experience leading field-based medical organizations in a national role. 

Highly Desirable 

  • Experience supporting multiple concurrent launches. 

  • Experience in both pre-launch and post-launch oncology environments. 

  • Experienceparticipating in Global Medical Teams. 

  • Experience managing organizational expansion and capability building. 

  • Experience across targeted therapies, immuno-oncology, and precision medicine.
