Job Purpose

Supervise technicians in a specific area of specialized work to ensure conformance with established guidelines, methods, procedures and policies are followed.
Providing comprehensive technical services for the efficient and safe operation of electronic technology for health, safety and productivity in the mining sector.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / N3 technical
  • Diploma in electronics and/or trade test / N6
  • Management Training
  • 10 years experience as a Technician
  • 10 years experience in electronics (hardware and software) and IT (hardware, networks and software)
  • 3 – 5 years experience in a leadership role
  • Supervisory skills
  • Knowledge of company product
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft package)
  • Knowledge of the Labour Relations Act
  • Knowledge of training and supervisory techniques

Responsibilities

Technical and Support

  • Troubleshoot problems that the technicians are having and determine route cause of issue and recommend corrective action.
  • Managing of stock levels.
  • Notifying head of departments of technical problems.
  • Suggest new ways to deliver improved technical performance.
  • Initial recruiting.
  • Training of Technicians.

Leadership

  • Responsible for overall technical employees work performance on technical Service department.
  • Evaluate the work of Supervisors to ensure they are working according to company standards.
  • Identifying training needs and ensure that training is completed.
  • Evaluate and verify employee performance through the review of completed work assignment and work techniques.
  • Effective management of employees, including mentoring.

Operations

  • Responsible for the overall technical performance and organization of technical tasks as assigned by Service Manager
  • Implementation of strategies to avoid risks and uncertainties within the designated area.
  • Improve the operational and support systems (including HR, Finance and QC), processes and policies in support of the organization’s mission specifically, management reporting, information flow, business process and organizational planning.
  • Control expenses to meet budget guidelines

    Administration

    • Compiling and submitting of monthly reports of feedback of the area/region, products and efforts made.

    Health and Safety

    • Adhere to all company safety regulations at all times.
    • Ensure compliance is maintained.
