CoverMyMeds is looking for aSr Associate Software Engineerto join a team building a modern healthcare data integration platform that connects internal products with external Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. This role focuses on developing scalable backend services that ingest, transform, and deliver patient data across systems—helping power clinical workflows and new healthcare products, with a little front-end UI work as well. You’ll work primarily in aTypeScript/Node.js ecosystem, contributing toevent-driven microservices and collaborating with cross-functional teams in aScrum/Agile environment transitioning toward SAFe (Scaled Agile).This is ahands-on, early-career opportunity ideal for engineers who want to deepen backend and data integration skills while building expertise in healthcare interoperability and modern cloud-native platforms.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and maintain backend microservices usingTypeScript (Node.js/NestJS) in an event-driven architecture

  • Build and support integrations thatingest, enrich, and distribute patient data from external EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)

  • Work with healthcare data standards such asFHIR R4 and platforms likeAidbox FHIR Server

  • Design and implement APIs leveragingREST, SMART on FHIR, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect

  • Write and optimizePostgreSQL queries, schemas, and data model

  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines usingGitHub Actions and ArgoCD onAzure Kubernetes Service (AKS)

  • Participate incode reviews, testing, and agile ceremonies (Scrum / SAFe)

  • Monitor system performance with tools likeDatadog and support troubleshooting in production

  • Collaborate with Product, QA, and Architecture teams to deliver features supporting clinical data workflows

Basic Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience

  • Foundational experience withJavaScript or TypeScript, particularly in backend or API development

  • Understanding ofREST APIs, relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), and distributed/event-driven systems

  • Experience working in ateam-based, agile development environment

  • Familiarity withGit version control and Linux/containerized environments

  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn in a collaborative setting

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience withNestJS, Kafka, or Kubernetes

  • Exposure tohealthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, X12, NCPDP)

  • Familiarity withEHR integrations and healthcare data environments

  • Exposure tofrontend frameworks (React or Angular) for occasional UI contributions

  • Experience working incorporate or large-scale development environments

  • Basic familiarity withAI-assisted development tools or code generation tools

  • Knowledge ofHIPAA/PHI handling and compliance standards

  • Experience withevent-driven or CQRS architectures

  • Experiencein Agileor Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)practices
