BACKGROUND:
MOSAIC is a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) with the Canadian Government, supporting refugees to resettle to Canada through Canadaâs Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) Program. Since 2017, MOSAIC has been involved with the private sponsorship of hundreds of refugees in need of resettlement, and our exceptional work has been recognized by the United Nations Refugee Agency and government bodies in Canada and abroad. We provide refugees with the support and tools to thrive in their new Canadian home. We support refugees from all countries, ethnicities, faiths, and sexual orientations. We work to ensure that even those who are not talked about in the media are not forgotten.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Â
- Manages core components of sponsorship that ensures the moral, financial, and legal responsibilities in relation to refugee sponsorship are carried out.
- Oversees the provision of basic financial support and care for the sponsored refugee(s) for the duration of the sponsorship period, or until the sponsored person becomes self-sufficient (whichever comes first).
- Promotes MOSAICâs mission and vision to cosponsors and Constituent Group members and donors to PSR program.
- Stewards, cultivates, and maintains relationships with cosponsors and Constituent Group members and donors in partnership with the Director of Strategic Engagement and Partnerships
- Pre-screens potential cases to determine whether a sponsorship application may meet sponsorship requirements, and whether the refugee(s) meet(s) eligibility and admissibility criteria.
- Oversees the assessment, selection, and authorizes Constituent Groups;
- Oversee and ensures cosponsors and Constituent Groups have sufficient resources and expertise to carry out their responsibilities.
- Provides organizational assistance, advice, information, and support to Cosponsors and Constituent Groups, including through electronic and in-person information and training.
- Oversees and advises and supports Constituent Group(s).
- Assists in the coordination of fundraising campaigns related to refugee resettlement to meet organizational targets.
- Promotes and raises awareness of the PSR program, refugees and forced migration issues to the community through communications, public outreach events and speaking engagements.
- Submits an annual report for the past year and expression of interest for the following year to IRCC.
- Reviews completed refugee sponsorship applications and updates IRCC on any changes regarding family composition or other aspects of the sponsorship, including any changes in the financial or other conditions of the sponsoring groups.
- Ensures that sponsoring groups carry out their duties including but not limited to the refugees they are sponsoring and IRCC, such as: pre-arrival duties: maintain contact with refugee applicants and update them and MOSAIC; ensure refugees are aware of their interview and appear for the interview; prepare refugee for an interview; work jointly with refugee applicants to avoid any delay or complication in the sponsorship process; reception (meet at airport, welcome into the community, and provide orientation to new neighborhood and life in Canada);.Provides supervision (as applicable), manages performance, and provides ongoing support and advice to the Private Sponsorship of Refugees team in regard to optimization of sponsorship.
- Participates in the team-based contract management in regard to budget monitoring, reporting, cash flow forecasting, and other tasks as required.
- Works in close collaboration with the Finance and Development departments to ensure donations and funds for refugee sponsorships are accurately recorded and dispensed after the refugee(s)â arrival.
- Uses technology effectively in all aspects of the job.
- Creates awareness of anti-oppressive/social justice issues.
- Work close and create excellent relationship and ask for advice if needed from Refugee Sponsorship Training Program RSTP and SAH Navigation Unite SNU
- Participates in training opportunities to stay current on issues impacting MOSAICâs operations, including Refugee Sponsorship Training Program RSTP and SAH Navigation Unite sessions and webinars.
- Attends annual SAH Conference.
- Organizes and/or participates in regular team and organization-wide staff meetings.
- Follows all MOSAICâs policies and administrative procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree in a related discipline (refugee and/or forced migration studies, intercultural studies, social studies, social work, business administration, area studies) or a combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered
- Experience in working and advocating for refugees and immigrant populations
- Excellent ability to connect settlement and financial resources to support refugee applications
- Excellent knowledge of settlement procedure and organization in BC
- Clear understanding of confidentiality and privacy of client information
- Ability to set clear yet friendly professional boundaries
- Empathetic, respectful and discrete; remains tactful and patient during stressful situations
- Highly organized and strong attention to detail
- Strong time-management, multi-tasking, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent business judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Work independently with limited direct supervision.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Keen understanding of diversity issues, experience working in multicultural settings.
- Flexible and adaptable with ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to communicate in English; a secondary language will be considered an asset
- Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check required
COMPENSATION: $69,360 - Â $78,605 annual salary
HOURS:
35 hours per week. This position may be permitted to work a hybrid schedule. For in-office days, the successful candidate must be able to commute to our 5575 Boundary Road, Vancouver Office location.Â
BENEFITS:
A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week.
