About Misprint

Misprint is building Robinhood for Pokemon cards

Tech description:

**Misprint Tech Stack & Challenges 🛠️**

At Misprint, we're leveraging a modern, robust tech stack (**Next.js, Supabase, AWS, Python**) to tackle complex challenges in the collectibles marketplace.

### Technical Challenges We're Solving:

- **Real-Time Data Processing**: Building and optimizing systems that handle massive data volumes for instant pricing insights and trade execution.
- **Machine Learning at Scale**: Creating ML models sophisticated enough to accurately price hundreds of thousands of unique collectibles, continuously updating based on live market data.
- **Seamless UX/UI**: Designing workflows that allow collectors to effortlessly list and manage large inventories, improving marketplace efficiency by over 20x compared to competitors.

Job description:

Misprint is a YC-backed marketplace for Pokémon cards — think StockX for collectibles, built around real-time pricing, liquidity, transparency, and trust.

We’re building the category-defining marketplace for one of the largest collectible markets in the world. Pokémon cards are a massive, highly liquid, global market, but buying and selling them is still fragmented, opaque, and full of friction. Misprint is changing that with live market data, a real bid/ask system, better seller tooling, and a much more trustworthy collector experience.

We’re hiring a Software Engineer to help us move faster on our mobile app and core marketplace product. This is a high-ownership role for someone who can build polished React Native experiences while also being comfortable working across the product stack when needed — especially with PostgreSQL, Supabase, and data-backed marketplace features.

You’ll work directly with the founders and engineering team to improve the buyer and seller experience, ship mobile-first product improvements, and help turn Misprint into the default place collectors buy and sell Pokémon cards.

## What you’ll do

You’ll primarily work on:

* Our iOS and Android apps built with React Native / Expo
* Core buyer and seller flows, including listing, browsing, offers, checkout, orders, and account experiences
* Mobile-first UX improvements across onboarding, discovery, search, card pages, collections, watchlists, and seller tools
* Product features that rely on PostgreSQL/Supabase data models, queries, permissions, and marketplace state
* Frontend polish, navigation, performance, and reliability across key user journeys
* Growth/product experiments that improve activation, conversion, retention, repeat purchase behavior, and marketplace liquidity

This is not a pure mobile-only role, but mobile will be a major focus. You should be excited to own React Native product work while still being comfortable understanding and working with the underlying data/product logic.

## What success looks like in your first 60–90 days

* You’ve shipped meaningful improvements to our mobile app and core marketplace flows
* You understand our product, users, and marketplace mechanics well enough to propose improvements
* You’ve taken ownership of at least one important mobile or product area
* You’re comfortable working with React Native, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and Supabase-backed product logic
* You’re helping us move faster without creating fragile systems
* The product feels better because of the details you notice and fix

## Our stack

* Mobile: React Native, Expo, TypeScript
* Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS
* Backend/Data: Supabase, PostgreSQL, Python, Node.js
* Infrastructure: Vercel, AWS, Porter
* Payments/Marketplace: Stripe, Stripe Connect
* Analytics/Data: PostHog, SQL, internal pricing and catalog pipelines

## You might be a fit if you…

* Have 1+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent experience building and shipping real products
* Have experience building and shipping React Native applications, ideally with Expo
* Are strong with React, TypeScript, modern frontend patterns, and mobile-first product development
* Are comfortable working with PostgreSQL, SQL queries, data models, and product logic
* Have good product taste and care about UX, speed, reliability, and polish
* Can take a product problem and turn it into a shipped feature
* Communicate clearly, operate independently, and document as you go
* Like owning outcomes, not just completing tickets
* Are excited by marketplaces, payments, pricing data, trading cards, collectibles, or Pokémon

React Native, React, and PostgreSQL experience are required for this role. Next.js experience is a plus, but not required.

## Bonus points if you have experience with:

* Supabase
* Expo
* Marketplace products
* Stripe / Stripe Connect
* Search, filtering, inventory, or catalog systems
* Growth, conversion, onboarding, or retention experiments
* Mobile app performance, app store releases, or mobile CI/CD
* Pokémon, TCGs, collectibles, or hobby marketplaces

## Logistics

Location: In-person, New York City

Type: Full-time

Compensation: $120k–$180k salary + 0.2%–0.6% equity

Start date: ASAP

## How to apply

* Apply with your resume and any links that help us understand what you’ve built, such as LinkedIn, GitHub, portfolio, or app links.
* You’ll also answer a few short questions about your React Native, React, and PostgreSQL experience, a product or feature you’re proud of, and why you’re interested in Misprint.
