Overview:Ā
The Accounting Clerk supports the Finance Team with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll tasks. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys transactional accounting work, values accuracy and timeliness, and is eager to learn and grow. The position requires the ability to work effectively in a nonprofit/government environment with established policies and procedures.Ā

⢠Supports the processing of biweekly payroll by reviewing employee timesheets forĀ accuracy and assisting with payroll recordkeeping, including updates for new hires,Ā
terminations, and employment changes in coordination with Human Resources
⢠Assist other Finance staff with payroll data entry into various software's Ā
⢠Assist with the training of new hires on payroll processesĀ
⢠Processes accounts payable by reviewing and verifying vendor invoices, coding andĀ
entering invoices into the financial system, and ensuring timely and accurate payments Ā
⢠Supports accounts payable functions by maintaining vendor accounts, reconcilingĀ
transactions, resolving discrepancies, monitoring aging reports, and maintaining recordsĀ
in accordance with retention policies Ā
⢠Manages accounts receivable activities, including preparing and issuing customer andĀ
grant-related invoices and recording and applying incoming payments (checks, ACH, and wire transfers) Ā
⢠Monitors outstanding receivables, follows up on overdue balances, and assists withĀ
resolving billing questions or discrepancies with program staff and funders Ā
⢠Reconciles accounts receivable activity to the general ledger and maintains accurateĀ
billing records and documentation for audit purposes Ā
⢠Assists in generating accounts receivable reports for management review Ā
⢠Other duties as assigned.Ā
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ā
Knowledge of accounting principles, financial processes, and internal controls related toĀ
accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll administration; knowledge of financial systems, general ledger processes, and standard office technologies (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software); skill in reviewing financial documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures; skill in data entry and maintaining accurate financial records with a high level of attention to detail; skill in organization and time management, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines; skill in verbal and written communication, including the ability to communicate effectively with employees, vendors, and external partners; skill in problem-solving and resolving discrepancies in financial transactions; ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial and employee information appropriately; ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment; ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in day-to-day work; and ability to work in an office environment requiring extended periods of sitting and computer use, occasionally stand, walk, bend, and reach, lift and move items up to 25 pounds, and communicate effectively in person and in writing.Ā
Qualifications:Ā
⢠Associateās degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Ā
⢠One (1) to two (2) years of experience supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, or general accounting functions Benefits and Work/Life Balance:Ā
