Microsoft Entra Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a contract Microsoft Entra Engineer to rapidly implement identity and access solutions in Azure. This is a hands-on delivery role , focused on executing predefined requirements, configuring Entra capabilities, and standing up governance controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) configurations based on defined requirements and architecture
• Build and deploy Conditional Access policies , including validation and controlled rollout
• Configure and enforce MFA and passwordless authentication , including Windows Hello for Business (WHfB)
• Set up and organize Azure Management Groups , RBAC assignments, and governance structure
• Configure enterprise applications and app registrations , including permissions and consent settings
• Execute application governance controls :
  • Identify and remediate risky or unused applications
  • Lock down user/admin consent and permission grants
• Implement guest user (B2B) lifecycle controls :
  • Configure cross-tenant access settings
  • Establish onboarding/offboarding processes
  • Enforce MFA settings
• Build and configure Entitlement Management (Access Packages) :
  • Create catalogs, access packages, and approval workflows
  • Configure expiration, access reviews, and policy enforcement
• Perform targeted troubleshooting and remediation during implementation
• Develop clear handoff documentation , including:
  • Configuration summaries
  • Runbooks and known limitations
  • Operational recommendations

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) implementation experience
• Proven experience delivering end-to-end Entra configurations in short timeframes
• Strong, practical experience with:
  • Conditional Access (design + deployment)
  • MFA, passkeys, passwordless authentication
  • Windows Hello for Business (WHfB)
  • Azure Management Groups and RBAC
  • Application governance (enterprise apps, app registrations, consent)
  • Guest user (B2B) configuration and controls
  • Entitlement Management / Access Packages
• Experience with PowerShell and/or Microsoft Graph API for rapid deployment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in greenfield or transformation environments
• Familiarity with Zero Trust implementation patterns
• Experience with Entra ID Governance, Access Reviews, and PIM
• Background in regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, finance)

Success Criteria

• Entra configurations delivered on time and aligned to requirements
• Policies implemented with minimal disruption to end users
• Governance controls (apps, guests, access packages) fully operational
• Complete and usable handoff documentation provided at project close
