Mental Health Assistant

Work Location:  Garden City

Staff member shall possess demonstrated interpersonal skills, ability to work with the mentally ill and respond effectively in a wide variety of human service situations. Applicant must possess an interest and investment in working with children who experience Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED). Also have the ability to work as a member of a treatment team in providing a continuum of services to consumers and their families.

TheMHA will deliver attendant care, respite care, psychosocial rehabilitation and independent living skills to consumers as directed by supervisor. Also, will provide direct one-on-one supervision of consumers and work directly from the Treatment Plan to help them learn independent living skills, complete specific goals, or help stabilize them in crisis situations to avoid out of home placement. The Mental Health Assistant will demonstrate flexibility in being available to work as client need arises.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Age 21+ years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Interest and investment in working with children who experience Severe and Emotional Disturbance (SED) and their families.
• Have completed or will complete any required training within six months of employment.
• Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
