Position Summary:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the lab technician will plan and execute laboratory cell culture including immortalized cell lines as well as human induced-pluripotent stem cells (iPSC). Along with regular cell culture work, will perform differentiation protocols for generation of dopaminergic neurons, astrocytes and microglia. Will also perform lentiviral production and transduction for CRISPR interference or activation systems in iPSC. Will support the implementation of a laboratory cell bank system.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans and executes cell culture within objectives set by supervisor.
- Performs a variety of specialized culture techniques such as generation of dopaminergic neurons, astrocytes and microglia.
- Perform immunofluorescence labeling
- Lentiviral production and transduction of iPSC
- May also be involved in performing cell-based assays with iPSC lines
- Maintains records, files and cell inventory
- Maintains inventory of culture reagents
- Uses a variety of equipment such as balances, pH meters, pipettors, laminar flow hoods, incubators, autoclaves, microscopes, spectrophotometers, centrifuges.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
- DEC in a laboratory technique or an undergrad degree in science (Biology or Sciences) -- 2 years minimum of related experience is mandatory
- Experience in cell culture is mandatory
- Experience in iPSC culture is highly recommended
- Excellent organization skills
- English, spoken and written
- Digital competence: Microsoft Office
