Position Summary:
Reporting to the Intramural Sports Manager the Intramurals Sports Assistant Manager assists in the organization of the fall, winter, and spring sports program and assists with the running of our various camps.
Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the manager in the supervision, scheduling, probationary evaluations and training of approximately 150 AMUSE employees.
During evening and weekends, monitor and oversee the competitive/recreational sports programs and all sport classesÂ
Oversees recreation attendants (hires, trains, schedules, payroll etc)
Coordinates lower campus activities as part of the department’s various wellness initiativesÂ
Conduct staff orientation and various training clinics
Review and suggest edits for rule books and documents
Assist with creating the various league schedules
Assist with maintenance of league management platform/website
Verify and prepare payroll documents for approval, and/or serve as a delegate in the manager’s absence in Workday
Attends all staff meetings
Monitor Intramural matches and troubleshoots issues that may arise
Compile and submit end of the season reports
Maintains an inventory of all related equipment
***Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday 1pm – 9pm***
Other Qualifying Skills/Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree required. Major in Education, recreation administration, sport management, leisure studies, physical education, kinesiology, or comparable degree.
Demonstrates strong leadership, customer service, team building, and decision-making skills.
Experience managing employees in a unionized environment.
Experience developing and leading educational sessions.
Ability to work with budgets.
Experience with intramural sports scheduling software (e.g. GOL Network, IM Leagues).
Possess a current CPR, AED, and First Aid Instructor certification, or ability to obtain one.
Bilingual English and French.
