EDPS 610-002. Professional Seminar 1A
Description:Reflexive, cohesive, and practice-oriented topics on equity, diversity and inclusion in education; classroom situations with a view to improving practice; integration of digital technologies; and teacher collaboration and community-building through a case study approach. Ongoing support for and debrief of concurrent internship. Professional repository documentation of professional competencies for teachers and selection of artifacts.
This course is not Team taught or offered online.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):
Education:
1. Master educator with a minimum completed master’s degree in a relevant field.
2. Strong grounding in teacher development, reflective practice, and equity-oriented approaches to teaching and learning.
Experience:
1. School-based teaching experience in secondary schools, preferably in Quebec.
2. Experience supporting teacher candidates in field experience and/or internship contexts.
3. Expert knowledge of:
Equity, diversity, and inclusion in education, including their implications for classroom practice.
Reflective and practice-oriented approaches to professional learning in teacher education.
The Québec Education Program (QEP) and professional competency frameworks relevant to teacher education.
Case-based pedagogies and approaches for analyzing and responding to classroom situations.
Teacher collaboration, professional community-building, and collegial learning.
Integration of digital technologies in teaching and professional practice.
Professional portfolios, repository documentation, and artifact-based approaches to documenting competency development.
4. Experience teaching or facilitating learning in teacher education and/or professional seminar contexts.
5. Experience supporting teacher candidates in reflecting on and developing professional identity and competencies.
6. Experience facilitating discussion-based, reflective, and relational learning environments involving complex or sensitive professional issues.
7. Experience connecting research, policy, and professional practice in teacher education.
Other:
1. A commitment to working collaboratively in planning and delivering the course, both across course sections and across the program.
2. Knowledge of the impact and experience integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion.
3. Familiarity using myCourses, Zoom and/or other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences.
4. Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools.
5. Familiarity teaching blended classes.
6. Instruction in this course may be delivered remotely if indicated as required by the university.
