The Purpose of the role is to carry out the transcription of terms included in Charterparty, Recap, Contracts within the company provided software and carry out the Laytime/Demurrage calculation using the application supporting documentation for the relevant port call. The role requires you to have a good understanding ofTanker Charterparties, key laytime/demurrage terms, contracts and provisions related to the voyage. Knowledge and understanding of terminology used in the petroleum industry and dry commodities businesses, marine and terminal operations is a requirement.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring Customers instructions are being followed in order to avoid any errors during the processing of the
  • laytime
  • Good understanding of contracts, charter parties and key Laytime/ demurrage provisions and the terminology
  • associated with Laytime in order to perform an accurate calculation.
  • Identify issues that should be included in the Laytime-Desk practices and procedures so that it could help the
  • other team members with a similar situation
  • Identify process methodologies in order to improve both productivity and quality.
  • Co-ordinating with the documentation team for accuracy in document collection in order not to miss-out on any
  • documents requirement as per the CP / contracts and also ensuring that laytime is submitted within the time
  • bar.
  • Building and maintaining Customer’s instructions so that it would assist the team in carrying out the
  • Laytime task
  • Attending to counters received from counterparties on laytime submitted and providing a resolution (in
  • coordination with the customer)
  • Carrying-out Quality Check of Laytime that have been processed by the team members in the absence of the
  • Team Leader, ensuring all instructions and CP terms have been correctly considered.
  • Identifying ambiguity in CP terms and recording the same for training purpose
  • Ability to identify and capture laytime terms accurately from CP & contracts and transcribing them into the
  • Portlog application
  • Identifying and recording all missing terms in PLF in order to enhance the system for a better data capture.
  • The minimum qualification required to perform this role is Graduation
  • As a Specialized Education, the candidate must have an MBA in Shipping or an equivalent degree.
  • A minimum of 4 years work experience with a Shipping company (mainly handling Charter-parties, vessel operations or equivalent) of which at least 3 years experience in Laytime / demurrage, preferably within Project cargo / Heavy lift segment
  • Good knowledge of written & spoken English
  • Ability to take lead on Customers claims portfolio
  • Ability to lead projects specific for their customer portfolio
  • Attention to detail & quality with ability to deliver consistently is a must.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others as a team.
  • Ability to analyse data accurately and make suggestions & improvements
  • Technology sound with regards to using digital applications.
