Overall purpose and responsibilities of the role:

The Air & Ocean Country Product Head is responsible for driving the commercial growth, operational excellence, and strategic direction of the Air & Ocean product in the country. The role oversees business development, freight forwarding operations, customer management, operational performance, compliance, and financial objectives across the organization.

 

The position is expected to lead end-to-end Air & Ocean operations while managing operational transformation, process alignment, and stakeholder coordination across multiple functions. The role also acts as a key escalation point for operational and customer-related concerns.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience within freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain operations
  • Strong background in Air Freight and/or Ocean Freight operations leadership
  • Experience managing operational performance, customer requirements, and business targets
  • Proven exposure to financial management, operational planning, and team leadership
  • Familiarity with freight forwarding systems and operational platforms
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience working within multinational or regional logistics organizations is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of customs, compliance, and operational standards within the logistics industry
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced operational environment

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Business Growth & Commercial Strategy
    • Lead initiatives to strengthen the country’s Air & Ocean business performance and market position
    • Support revenue growth by identifying opportunities across trade lanes, customer segments, and strategic accounts
    • Partner with commercial and account management teams on customer solutions, pricing strategies, and service offerings
    • Contribute to customer retention initiatives and expansion of existing business relationships
    • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and operational developments impacting the freight forwarding industry
  • Operations & Service Delivery
    • Oversee day-to-day freight forwarding operations covering air freight, ocean freight, transportation, and related logistics services
    • Ensure operational efficiency, service reliability, and compliance with company standards and customer expectations
    • Drive process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives across operational functions
    • Support deployment and adoption of freight management systems and operational technologies
    • Work closely with operational teams to address service challenges, escalations, and process gaps
  • Financial & Performance Management
    • Manage operational and commercial performance in line with country and regional business objectives
    • Monitor profitability, operational costs, and productivity across the Air & Ocean business
    • Review financial and operational KPIs to ensure targets are achieved
    • Collaborate with finance and procurement teams on cost control initiatives and supplier management
    • Support pricing reviews, budget planning, and resource optimization activities
  • Leadership & Team Management
    • Provide leadership and direction to operational and product teams within the country organization
    • Develop team capabilities through coaching, performance management, and succession planning
    • Promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across functions
    • Ensure proper workforce planning and alignment of resources to operational requirements
  • Customer & Stakeholder Management
    • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, and regional counterparts
    • Support resolution of operational and service-related concerns affecting key accounts
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of customer requirements
    • Act as a senior escalation point for critical operational matters when necessary
  • Compliance & Quality Standards
    • Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and operational compliance standards
    • Support implementation of quality, safety, and operational control procedures
    • Monitor operational risks and drive corrective actions where required
    • Maintain alignment with local and regional compliance expectations across freight forwarding activities
