Position Overview:
- The Manager, Below the Line Awards Publicity will work closely with the Senior Manager to build strategic publicity and awards campaigns for below-the-line (BTL) artisans working on Netflix series and films. The ideal candidate will be well versed in crafting strategic publicity campaigns, have strong trade and industry press relationships, experience in or enthusiasm for below-the-line crafts, the ability to think and work creatively to develop avenues for promoting talent, and be able to liaise with confidence cross-functionally across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- The Manager is a collaborative team player, exercises sound judgment, is self-motivated, passionate, proactive, resourceful, flexible, and can juggle multiple and diverse responsibilities across many different initiatives simultaneously. This demanding and fast-moving position requires someone who has a positive attitude, takes initiative, can multi-task and be detail oriented.
Responsibilities:
Tasks are timely and varied. They include but are not limited to:
- As part of the BTL team, create and execute strategic awards publicity campaigns for titles and below the line artisans
- Work with Publicity and Awards teams to understand title and artisan priorities, develop strategy and all overall campaign elements
- View and assess artisan work to develop key angles
- Pitch and place stories across trade, guild, industry and consumer press
- Prep talent and staff press interviews; share coverage back
- Develop/maintain relationships with key press covering below the line.
- Maintain press lists, as well as continually look for new opportunities for coverage.
- Build, contribute to, and manage reporting and status tools and documents
- Create and manage event opportunities for BTL talent: â—‹ Develop panels, Q&As and screening opportunities
- Liaise with Awards Events team to actualize and plan
- Create and manage Run of Show (ROS) documents/process
- Identify, secure, and prep high-quality discussion moderators
- Identify and coordinate with partner organizations
- Prep and support talent on site at events
- Staff events, screenings, Q&As
- Curate, collect and manage all visual campaign assets (photos, clips)
- Track press breaks and keep campaign activities updated across numerous tracking documents.
Requirements:
- Experienced awards publicist, with a strong understanding of the awards landscape for both film and TV. 7+ years of publicity/communications-related entertainment experience in a studio, network, agency, brand, or similar organization
- Strong interest in the way that film and television are made. Curiosity about the work our artisans do across all of the BTL areas, from costume design and cinematography to sound, VFX, editing and more
- Good press relationships; ideally with writers and outlets that focus on below the line/craft coverage.
- Strong ability to multi-task and consistently manage/assimilate large amounts of programmatic information
- Strong ability to prioritize a heavy workload
- Clear and concise communication style; strong written and verbal skills that can effectively convey complex ideas
- Meticulous organizational skills and effective time management.
- Resourceful and creative problem solving
- Curious and eager to learn and improve. Looking to develop their skill set and learn the fundamentals of what makes a stellar publicity campaign
Nice to Haves or Preferred Skills:
- Relationships/experience with guilds and industry organizations
- Experience working on BTL awards campaigns, across both film and TV
