AsLead Laboratory Technologist, you will support one or more specialized tracks of job responsibility. You will serve as a coachand technical resource to team members, ensuring compliance, problem solving, propereducation and cohesion throughout the unit. This position offersa great way to hone your management and supervisory skills in an innovativelaboratory environment. 

A caregiver in this position worksdays, 8:00am—4:30pm. On-call requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Perform laboratory testing compliantly andmaintain regulatory knowledge and awareness of specific job duties. 

• Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies anddocument all quality control activities, instrument calibrations, proceduralcalibrations and maintenance performed. 

• Assume responsibility for and actsregarding any quality control or quality assurance issues as it pertains to specific job duties. Maintain instruments and equipmentin accordance with manufacturer's specifications. 

• Performproficiency testing in compliance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations. 

• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problems orimmediatelynotify the General Supervisor, Technical Supervisor, Clinical Consultant, or Laboratory Director. 

• Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. 

• In the Educational track: functions as an educator and provides instruction and training in theory, technical skills, safety protocols, and the application of laboratory test protocols to students,employees, and residents. 

• Conduct lab specific orientation for new employees and develop andcoordinate laboratory continuing educationprograms. 

• Assist in the validation/verification of new assays under the direction of the Medical Director. Perform validation/verification analysis,collect, and analyze data andprepare for Medical Director review. 

• Write technicalprocedures,submit tothe Medical Director forreview, and the Laboratory Director for approval. 

• Train medical technologists in new testing procedures,assist with implementation of newly developed clinical tests. 

• Effectively resolves daily technical and theoretical problems; solves technical problems; serves as a technical resource for the laboratory testing personnel,supervisors, and staff.  

• Recognize andresolve complex technical problems andprovide orseekviable,appropriate solutions. 

• Perform and oversee troubleshooting and repair of assigned laboratory instruments/equipment/procedures. 

• Assist with ensuring that procedure manuals are up to date and that annual reviews of procedure manuals are conducted. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Pattern I:Bachelor's degree inchemical, physical,biological, or clinical laboratory scienceormedical technology fromanaccredited institutionANDthree years of laboratory training or experience, or both in non-waived testing 

• Pattern II:Meets the CLIA qualifications for high complexity testing personnel 

• See Code of Federal Regulations, Title 42, § 493.1489 Standard,High Complexity Testing Personnel QualificationsANDhave at least three years of laboratory training or experience, or both, in non-waived testing 

• Diploma and/or transcripts must be provided. Education will be verified 

• Education outside of the United States requires diploma/transcripts translated into English and proof of foreign equivalency from by an HHS approved agency or nationally recognized organization such as NACES (National Association Credential Evaluation Services, Inc)OR AICE (Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc) 

• If the required clinical laboratory training and experience occurred at an outside facility, a signed, official letter from the facility or organization isrequired which details the dates and laboratorydiscipline experience and training. 

• Laboratory training or experience and can be met by any combination of years of clinical laboratory training or experience 

• Clinical laboratory training or experience can be metby: 1. Medical technology internship 2.Full time experience performing non-waived testing for the required number of years 3. Part-time experience performing non-waived testing, with2080 hours equivalent to one year 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Medical Technologist, such as, MT(ASCP) or American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) eligible 

• Certified Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT) 

• 3 years of HLA laboratory experience
