Job Overview

The Junior System Administrator supports the daily operation and maintenance of IT infrastructure environments under IT OPS supervision. The role focuses on executing standard administrative tasks, handling low- to medium-complexity incidents and changes, and gradually building independence in system administration while ensuring stability, security, and procedural compliance.

The System Administration position family is responsible for maintaining and operating server and infrastructure environments, monitoring systems, handling incidents and 
changes, supporting virtualization and container platforms, and ensuring that environments remain stable, secure, and compliant with operational and security standards. Roles within this family cooperate closely with IT OPS, Security, R&D, and development teams and contribute to documentation, automation, and continuous improvement of operational practices.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform standard administrative tasks in Linux and Windows systems in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintain Linux systems and basic infrastructure services in test and production environments.
• Handle incidents and changes of low or medium complexity within defined timelines.
• Execute daily operational tasks in line with procedures, instructions, and security standards.
• Monitor environments, perform initial alert analysis, and escalate incidents requiring deeper diagnostics.
• Verify basic monitoring events and take first actions according to operational instructions.
• Support virtualization, container services, web services, and basic network components.
• Participate in planned maintenance activities, including updates, restarts, and patching.
• Assist with operating system, service, and administrative tool updates, including security patching.
• Analyze system and application logs at a basic level and prepare materials for further diagnostics.
• Carry out simple configuration changes after approval or instruction from senior team members.
• Support account and access management activities, including permissions, firewalls, and basic security tasks.
• Assist in creating and maintaining simple scripts and automations to reduce repetitive manual work.
• Prepare and update operational documentation, checklists, and basic Ansible runbooks.
• Document completed changes, incident conclusions, and task status in ticketing and documentation systems.
• Cooperate with mid-level and senior administrators on operational issues and improvements.
• Communicate task status and simple incident information to internal users and technical stakeholders.
• Escalate problems and high-impact changes according to established responsibility paths.
• Propose minor improvements to procedures, documentation, and daily operational activities.
• Gradually increase independence in maintaining Linux environments and operational tools.
• Ensure stable, timely execution of repetitive operational tasks and reliable status communication.

Required Qualifications and experience:

Education

High School Technical Diploma or higher education in:

• Information Technology
• Computer Science
• Telecommunications
• Cybersecurity
• Electronics
• Automation
• Or a related technical discipline

Experience

• 1+ year of experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, or a related technical field.
• Previous experience in a System Administrator, Infrastructure Support, Helpdesk, or similar technical role.

Technical Skills

• Basic knowledge of Linux systems (preferably Debian-based distributions).
• Familiarity with command-line administration and Bash scripting fundamentals.
• Basic Windows Server administration knowledge.
• Experience working with SSH and administrative consoles.
• Understanding of:
  • System logs
  • Server services
  • System processes
  • Monitoring tools
• Basic knowledge of firewall administration, including iptables and Fortinet/FortiGate.
• Exposure to virtualization technologies and container platforms is an advantage.
• Familiarity with monitoring solutions such as Grafana is preferred.

Language Skills

• English proficiency atB2 level or above.
• Ability to read technical documentation, manage tickets, and communicate effectively with technical stakeholders.
• B2+ proficiency is advantageous for independent communication with international teams, partners, and customers.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in system administration or infrastructure operations.
• Experience supporting production environments.
• Exposure to automation tools such as Ansible.
• Basic networking and security administration knowledge.
• Experience with cloud-based or hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Relevant Linux, Windows Server, Networking, or Cybersecurity certifications are considered a plus
