License Journeyman Electricians

General Information/Job Summary

The Electrician installs, maintains, and repairs a variety of electrical equipment. The License Electrician troubleshoots equipment to determine proper methods and materials necessary for maintenance and repair. They are responsible for knowing and following appropriate safety procedures to make safety checks and conduct safety meetings, and for coordinating with operation personnel regarding permits and clearances to initiate maintenance and repair activities.

Under general supervision, installs, services, and maintains all types of electrical systems including power distribution substations, computer, coaxial communication circuits, fiber optics system, instrumentation systems, fire alarm circuits, lighting circuits. Provides basic instruction to supervised employees.

Provides own basic hand tools.

Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities/Competencies

• Determines methods and materials needed to accomplishassigned maintenance, repair or construction.
• Eye-hand coordination.
• Performs lock-out and tag-out procedures to secureswitchgear anddeactivateequipment and checks localswitch point to ensure proper lock-out procedures are used.
• Dismantles equipment ordevices togain access to andremove defective parts or components.
• Troubleshoots, inspects, and maintainsequipment.
• Usesseveral types of testequipment such as ammeters,voltmeters, and ohmmeters.
• Makesemergencyelectricalrepairs, troubleshoots malfunctions andbreakdowns; inspectsworkinprogress and completedwork for defects, firehazards or other unsafe conditions.
• Familiarwith the use ofvarioustypes of conduits and fittings, cables, insulators, and otherequipment.
• Works from electricalschematics,plans,andspecificationsinaccordancewith established procedures
• Removes and replaces operating equipment.
• Performs miscellaneous tasks thatrequire manuallymoving materials, tools, andequipment and using hand tools andpower tools.
• Performswork area clean-up and safety-related duties.
• Completespaperwork documenting repair and maintenanceactivities.
• Communicateswithvarious personnel concerning initiation of maintenance.
• Required to follow any other job-related instructions and perform anyother job-related dutiesrequested bysupervisor ordesignatedrepresentative.
• Requiresworking in operating facilities andobserving and abiding byadditionalsafetypolicies and procedures.
• Terminate controls and power cables.
• Install conduit.
• Gives suitableassignments to helpers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Four (4) years of experience in the heavy industrial industry
• Knowledge of the NationalElectric Code and basic safety practices
• Journeyman Electrician any State Journeyman License

• Ability to pass drug testas mandated by the Saulsbury Industries and Department of Transportation anti-drugprogram
• Must attend and successfully complete SaulsburyIndustries safety training education
• Attends safetymeetings and specialty training as directed by management
• Attendsvarious training classes as may beassigned by management
• Perform related duties andresponsibilities asrequired.
• Ability to take needed safety precautions in performing thework.
• Fire Resistant Clothing (FRC)
