Summary:

The RN, NICU (Designated Unit) is responsible for delivering competent, individualized nursing care to patients and families by utilizing the nursing process to augment the established medical plan of treatment within a specific clinical unit. Operating with a strong team orientation, this nurse integrates sound clinical judgment and evidence-based decision-making to address the unique needs and acuity of the unit’s patient population. The role emphasizes exceptional customer relations and professional communication, ensuring that care is delivered with both clinical precision and a high level of service excellence. By maintaining a focus on safety and collaborative practice, the RN Staff DU serves as a vital advocate for the patient while contributing to the overall effectiveness and specialized workflows of the designated clinical team.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Our state-of-the-art NICU is designated Level IV, the highest level of designation that can be achieved. We boast 106 private rooms and admit over 1,000 patients annually. We care for very low birth weight infants as young as 22 weeks and see a vast array of diseases, including respiratory, surgical, cardiac, genetic, renal, neurological, hematological, and metabolic conditions. The NICU also has a variety of acuity levels, ranging from infants requiring the highest level of care on ECMO to those who are ready for discharge home. Our large collaborative team includes several NICU dedicated specialties, such as physical, occupational, and speech therapies, child life, lactation, and respiratory therapy. The provider team, comprising neonatologists and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, has a passion for teaching and collaboration with staff.

Critical Care and/or NICU experience preferred.

Education/Experience:

• 1 year of direct nursing experience required.
• Associate's in nursing required, BSN preferred.
• Active, unrestricted TX Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• BLS (American Heart Association).

​Post hire Requirements:

• PALS or NRP and specialty certifications per unit guidelines.
