Position Summary:Â TheAssistant Tennis Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the tennis program, including athlete development, tournament preparation, training implementation, recruiting support, administrative responsibilities, and fostering a positive, competitive, and growth-oriented environment. This role helps ensure the program aligns with organizational standards, student-athlete well-being, and competitive excellence while supporting the holistic development of student-athletes on and off the court.Â
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist with planning, organizing, and conducting high-quality tennis practices, training sessions, and individualized development plansÂ
- Support the development of student-athletes’ technical, tactical, physical, and mental performance skillsÂ
- Provide instruction in stroke production, match strategy, footwork, movement efficiency, point construction, and competitive decision-makingÂ
- Assist with tournament preparation including scheduling, match readiness, scouting, post-match review, and performance benchmarkingÂ
- Utilize instructional equipment, video analysis, performance technology, and modern tennis methodologies to enhance athlete development and competitive performanceÂ
- Collaborate with performance staff, athletic trainers, and sports science personnel to support injury prevention, recovery, and long-term athlete developmentÂ
- Maintain open, professional communication with student-athletes and parents/guardians regarding performance goals, development plans, academics, and overall campus experienceÂ
- Serve as a mentor and educator by fostering discipline, accountability, leadership, sportsmanship, and life skills developmentÂ
- Continuously evaluate the athletic, academic, and emotional development of each student-athlete and collaborate with leadership to ensure appropriate support resources are engagedÂ
- Assist student-athletes throughout the college placement and recruiting process as neededÂ
- Collaborate with leadership to regularly review and enhance program structure, training systems, curriculum delivery, and athlete development pathwaysÂ
- Support recruiting and retention initiatives for current and prospective student-athletesÂ
- Assist with operational responsibilities including practice setup, tournament logistics, travel coordination, scheduling, and event supportÂ
- Travel with student-athletes to tournaments, showcases, camps, and recruiting events as needed
- Assist with tennis camp programming, clinics, and special eventsÂ
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the instructional equipment, training technologies, and methodologies used within the Academy’s tennis programsÂ
- Adhere to all IMG Academy policies, procedures, safety standards, and governing body regulationsÂ
- Other duties as assignedÂ
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High standard of proficiency in tennis coaching, training techniques, and athlete developmentÂ
- Experience playing, coaching, or managing tennis at the collegiate, academy, club, national, or professional levelÂ
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experienceÂ
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsÂ
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-performance environmentÂ
- Strong commitment to student-athlete development, welfare, and academic successÂ
Preferred Skills:
- Experience coaching elite or nationally ranked tennis playersÂ
- Knowledge of tennis performance analytics, video analysis, and player development technologyÂ
- Experience with recruiting and college placement processesÂ
- Bilingual preferredÂ
- CPR Certification preferredÂ
- Valid driver’s license with ability to travel for tournaments, recruiting events, and team travelÂ
- Experience working camps, clinics, showcases, and player development programsÂ
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40lbs. Â
- Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time.Â
- Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.Â
- Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required Â
