Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School is a one-form-entry Outstanding Catholic primary school in the heart of West London, serving children from Nursery through to Year 6. Apprenticeship Overview:

• Salary: £8.00 per hour, automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds
  • Working Week: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm (45 minute lunch break)
  • Hours: 32.5 hours per week
  • Duration: 18 months
  • Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard qualification

As an Early Years Educator Apprentice, you will:

• Support children aged 3 to 5 in their learning, development and well-being within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Help create a safe, stimulating, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging activities that support children's development across all areas of learning
  • Encourage children's communication, language, social and emotional development through meaningful interactions and play-based learning
  • Observe, assess and record children's progress under the guidance of experienced practitioners and teachers
  • Support children in developing independence, confidence, resilience and positive behaviour
  • Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues
  • Assist in preparing learning resources and maintaining an organised learning environment
  • Support children with additional needs to ensure they are fully included in all activities
  • Uphold safeguarding, health and safety policies and procedures at all times
  • Contribute to the school's Catholic ethos and values through kindness, respect and inclusion
  • Take part in training, mentoring and professional development opportunities throughout the apprenticeship

Qualifications:

• GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above desirable

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

• The successful candidate will obtain a Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
• Each apprentice will have their own dedicated tutor who will conduct monthly remote tutorials and reviews, providing continuous support throughout the apprenticeship programme. Depending on the apprentice's needs, the frequency of these sessions may vary.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Potential full-time employment for the right candidate upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Pre-employment checks: Please be aware that upon a successful offer of employment, the company completes digitalised right-to-work checks and DBS applications via an external provider, Matrix Screening. The company also completes an internal online social media search, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. An Enhanced DBS check with Child Barred List check will be required for this role.
