This role sits at the intersection of real-time operations and live on-camera broadcasting for a public safety technology organization. The Mission Control team monitors incidents around the country, verifies what is real, and gets accurate safety information to people the moment it matters. What makes this role new is that the team now goes on air: when a major incident unfolds, the broadcaster goes live on video, narrating events in real time to hundreds or thousands of users tuned in. This is a founding role in a genuinely new category of work, and the person who fills it will help build the playbook from the ground up.
The ideal candidate is equal parts operator and on-camera presence. On the operations side, you stay calm under pressure, verify fast, and never upgrade a rumor into a fact. On the broadcast side, you are warm, credible, and watchable; people trust you and want to keep listening. Strong candidates typically come from local news or live event hosting, creator and live-streaming backgrounds, real-time operations like dispatch or newsroom assignment desks, or some combination of both. No specific degree is required. What matters is that you can run the room and hold a live audience while doing it.
Key Responsibilities
1. Monitor live incident feeds, scanner audio, user video, and data streams across multiple markets simultaneously
2. Verify incidents quickly and accurately, confirming what is real, flagging what is not, and protecting against misinformation
3. Write and send incident titles, updates, and push notifications that lead with the live danger and keep users spatially aware
4. Broadcast live from the studio during major incidents, narrating developing events clearly and credibly to a live audience
5. Interact with live viewers in real time, responding to comments and community reports without sacrificing accuracy or digni
6. Coordinate with field contributors and partner responders to build a real-time picture of active scenes 7. Partner with content and social teams to turn live broadcasts into clips and cross-platform moments
8. Help refine the on-air playbook, including pacing, tone, and what works on camera during a real, unfolding incident
Required Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated ability to perform live, unscripted on-camera work for extended stretches
- Sharp verification instincts and composure under pressure; accuracy is never traded for speed or engagement

- Comfort being a public face by design, including building a recognizable on-air presence over time
- Understanding of how live audiences behave and how live content travels across platforms
- Willingness to work shift-based hours including evenings and weekends
- Deep commitment to accuracy, privacy, and dignity in public safety coverage; sensationalism is a hard disqualifier
Preferred Skills
- Background in local news, live event hosting, weather, or sports sideline broadcasting
- Experience as a live streamer or creator on Twitch, YouTube Live, TikTok Live, or similar platforms with a genuinely engaged live audience
- Background in 911 dispatch, EMS or fire communications, newsroom assignment desks, or security operations centers
- Existing interest in public safety, city news, or community-level journalism
- Experience working across content and social teams to extend live moments into clips and highlights
