Facility Operations Assistant - FWS Possible (Student Wage

Position Overview:

The facility operations team at the McIntire School of Commerce is seeking dependable and proactive UVA students to serve as Facility Operations Assistants. This position provides hands-on support for the day-to-day operations of facilities and shared spaces across Rouss & Robertson Halls, Shumway Hall, and Cobb Hall.

Facility Operations Assistants will support the facility operations team in ensuring that buildings, shared spaces, and events run smoothly. This role offers practical experience in operations, facilities coordination, event support, and workplace logistics.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Support

• Assist with internal package and material deliveries between buildings, offices, and departments.
• Identify and report facility-related issues and submit appropriate service or maintenance tickets.
• Track open facility requests and assist with follow-up to ensure timely resolution.
• Support small operational and facility-related tasks throughout the assigned spaces.
• Help maintain organized, functional, and professional shared spaces.
• Provide general operational assistance as needs arise.

Event & Space Operations:

• Assist with preparing rooms and spaces for meetings, programs, and events.
• Set up and arrange tables, chairs, signage, and other event materials.
• Assist with resetting spaces following meetings and events.
• Provide on-site operational support for events as needed.
• Coordinate with staff to ensure spaces are ready according to event requirements.

Compensation: $15/hr.

Scheduling: To be determined with supervisor. ~10 hours per week.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires regular physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Duties may involve moving furniture and event materials and transporting packages between buildings, with the ability to lift up to 25–40 lbs.
