The Opportunity

We are looking for a 7+ PQE lawyer to join our Employment team as a Practice Leader. In this fast-paced role, you’ll be working across a broad range of employment law matters to help clients anticipate, manage and resolve legal issues. Our team services businesses of all sizes, from small and medium-sized businesses and startups to large enterprises. We focus on providing efficient, cost-effective and quality advice through our innovative subscription model.

The successful candidate will demonstrate technical capability in employment law, effective project management and client service skills, and a genuine interest in contributing to LegalVision’s growth. 

This is an opportunity to practice law differently - without the inflexibility, micromanagement and facetime of traditional law firms - whilst continuing to work on complex matters with engaged clients. As a Practice Leader, you will also be responsible for supervising a growing team of talented corporate lawyers. As such, you will demonstrate a genuine interest in training and mentoring junior lawyers and supporting their growth in the firm.

Things you’ll be doing:

  • Providing written and verbal advice to employers on the full range of employment law matters, including in relation to modern awards and enterprise agreements.
  • Reviewing, drafting and updating employment documents such as contracts of employment, deeds of release and policies.
  • Supporting clients and advising on recruitment, onboarding, application of their internal policies and employee terminations.
  • Managing employment litigation matters and other larger projects and briefing counsel where necessary. 
  • Overseeing juniors in their day to day work and providing meaningful coaching and development to your direct reports.

The Ideal Candidate

  • At least 7+ years of employment law experience in a reputable law firm or employment focused in-house position. 
  • Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with clients and stakeholders.
  • A solutions-oriented mindset, strong business acumen, and the ability to provide pragmatic legal advice
  • A collaborative team builder and player who leads by example and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Additional experience directly managing or supervising junior lawyers will be highly valued.
