The Sr. Communications Lead develops and drives the communications strategy for IT & Engineering (ITES), ensuring leaders, colleagues, and key stakeholders receive clear, consistent, timely, and business-relevant communications. The role shapes how ITES priorities, decisions, accomplishments, and strategic initiatives are communicated across a global organization. This is a senior communications role with both strategic and hands-on accountability. 6-10 years The Sr. Communications Lead sets communications standards and messaging frameworks, serves as a trusted advisor to leadership, and directly leads high-visibility communications where senior ownership is required. The role works closely with ITES leadership, Corporate Communications, Human Resources, and business and functional partners to align messaging, sequencing, audiences, and channels.
Key Responsibilities Communications Strategy & Planning • Own and continuously evolve the ITES communications strategy in alignment with ITES priorities and enterprise communications standards. • Develop integrated annual and quarterly communications plans that connect leadership priorities, major initiatives, organizational updates, and key milestones. • Define audience, message, channel, timing, and cadence for communications so stakeholders receive the right level of information at the right time. • Translate complex technology, business, and organizational topics into clear narratives that explain what matters, why it matters, and what stakeholders need to know or do. • Anticipate communications needs and advise leaders on sequencing, stakeholder impact, message risk, and the most effective communications approach. Executive & Leadership Communications • Serve as a senior communications advisor to ITES leaders, providing counsel on messaging for high-visibility, sensitive, or complex topics. • Develop executive communications including key messages, leadership updates, talking points, presentations, announcements, Q&A materials, town hall content, and follow-through summaries. • Ensure leadership messages are consistent across functions and geographies while allowing appropriate tailoring for different audiences. • Support leaders in communicating strategic priorities, decisions, organizational updates, business outcomes, and expectations with clarity and credibility. • Prepare leaders for major communications moments by identifying likely stakeholder questions, areas of concern, and required follow-up. Strategic & Enterprise Communications • Lead communications for major ITES priorities and strategic initiatives, including digital, data, AI, innovation, operational excellence, and capability-building efforts. • Develop communications that make technical initiatives relevant to the business by connecting them to customer, colleague, operational, financial, or strategic outcomes. • Coordinate communications across global IT teams and Centers of Excellence to maintain a coherent ITES narrative and reduce conflicting or duplicate messaging. • Develop communications that recognize accomplishments, reinforce strategic focus areas, and improve visibility of ITES contributions and business value. Channels, Content & Communications Governance • Define and maintain communications standards, templates, editorial guidance, and reusable tools that improve quality and consistency across ITES. • Manage the integrated communications calendar and coordinate content across channels including email, Teams, intranet, newsletters, town halls, leadership forums, presentations, and other internal channels. • Establish appropriate review and approval processes for high-impact communications while keeping routine communications efficient and timely. • Partner with Corporate Communications to align ITES content with enterprise brand, editorial standards, and enterprise-wide channels where applicable. • Maintain message discipline and content accuracy, challenging unclear, inconsistent, unsupported, or unnecessarily complex communications before release. Stakeholder Partnership & Communications Enablement • Build strong working relationships with ITES leadership, Corporate Communications, Human Resources, business partners, functional teams, and subject-matter experts. • Coach leaders and content owners on audience-focused writing, message clarity, presentation structure, and effective use of communications channels. • Create practical guidance and self-service resources that allow teams to communicate routine updates consistently without creating unnecessary central dependency. • Coordinate message timing across stakeholders so major communications are sequenced appropriately and do not compete with or contradict one another. Measurement & Continuous Improvement • Define practical measures for communications effectiveness, including reach, engagement, understanding, timeliness, and stakeholder feedback. • Use channel data, stakeholder feedback, and recurring themes to identify communication gaps and improve messaging, formats, cadence, and channel selection. • Periodically review the effectiveness of the ITES communications approach and recommend changes based on business needs, leadership priorities, and audience behavior. Experience & Capabilities • Demonstrated experience developing and leading communications strategy in a complex, global, matrixed organization. • Exceptional executive writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex information without losing accuracy or intent. • Strong executive presence and judgment, including the ability to advise senior leaders and handle sensitive information appropriately. • Experience developing multi-channel internal communications and coordinating communications across geographically dispersed teams. • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to align multiple contributors around a clear narrative and communications plan. • Ability to move comfortably between strategy and execution, from shaping the communications approach to personally developing high-priority content. • Strong business acumen and the ability to connect technology and organizational priorities to business-relevant outcomes. • Experience working in a regulated, life sciences, healthcare, technology, or similarly complex environment is preferred. Success Measures • ITES priorities, decisions, and strategic initiatives are communicated clearly, consistently, and at the appropriate time. • Leadership communications are concise, aligned, audience-appropriate, and ready for use with minimal rework. • Stakeholders demonstrate improved understanding of key ITES priorities, initiatives, and business outcomes. • Communications channels are used intentionally, with measurable reach and engagement and reduced duplication of messages. • High-impact communications are anticipated and planned rather than developed reactively. • Leadership and stakeholder feedback indicates that ITES communications are credible, useful, and business-relevant.
