Job Summary
Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States. Situated on the largest known lithium deposit in North America, the multi-billion-dollar mine and processing facilities will eventually produce more than 16 times the current U.S. yearly output of lithium. The battery-quality lithium carbonate made at Thacker Pass will be enough to power 800,000 electric vehicles each year. The project is located in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada, and 3 hours northeast of Reno. In this role, you will lead a team to develop, coordinate, implement, and execute aCommissioning and Startup (CSU) program. You will be responsible for pre-commissioning and planning activities. You will coordinate with Project Management, Engineering, Construction, and clients to leverage diverse technical team skills to integrate the CSU plan. Your leadership will help identify budget constraints, risks and trends, manage progress reporting, and proactively correct courses to ensure goals, objectives, schedules, and requirements are being met.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and implements training activities directed at both employee competencies and technical skills for on-project, or plant operations-wide basis
- Develops highly technical learning programs to effectively train the employees and support the adequate operations of the plant in accordance with a systematic approach to training
- Partners with Operations Managers and Training Manager to design, implement, and conduct budgeted technical training for a project or plant
- Provides operational direction and guidance to instructors and administrative employees as assigned
- Arranges for technical assistance as required
- Performs quality reviews to improve training efficiency, processes, and cost efficiency
- Researches and studies advancements in educational technologies and technical methods
- Recommends and/or implements solutions, modifications, and enhancements to technical training programs
- Acts as the liaison for various audits by customers, authorities, and certifying organizations
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) required
Required Experience
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10β13 years of relevant experience, or 14β17 years of relevant work experience
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills for coordination with Engineering, Operations, and Client teams
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills with a focus on mentorship and accountability
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards
- Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of applicable work processes including standard work process procedures
- Experience in mining processes
- Familiarity with Standard Applications (BSAPs) including Acconex, TeamWorks, Smart Completions, Productivity System, PTR, and other automation tools
